I know this is not the recipe board, but...

We need something to take our minds off of all of this baseball nonsense!!!!

Post your favorite unique recipe - meaning something that you make that's just a little different, but that you love...

Macaroni & Peas

Slice an onion into 1' strips and brown in olive oil in a small pot.
When onion is transparent, take it out of pot and discard.
Add two small cans tomato sauce to the oil with equal amounts water.
Bring to a boil and then lower to a simmer.
Add one can peas (canned are better than frozen or fresh for this recipe), salt, pepper and basil to taste.
Simmer for about 20 minutes.
In separate pot, boil desired amount of pasta (I like to use small shells, but any smallish shape will do).
Drain pasta and combine with sauce. Top with parmasean cheese if desired.

This recipe is sooooo cheap and soooo easy. My grandmother practically fed her family on it throughout the 50's & 60's. It's a good one for cold nights, kind of comforting.

Please post yours...

ETS: That sounds amazing, by the way!! I'm so trying that!

Re: I know this is not the recipe board, but...

My mom makes macaroni and peas all the time. I hate peas, so she substitutes cauliflower for me. She also adds a tiny bit of anchovy to the sauce and some crushed red pepper for spice. I'm not sure what else she adds, but it's more soupy than saucy. (Does that make sense?)

Of course! I was just teasing.

I'll have to wait until I get home though, that's where my recipes are stored. I'll post some later.

These cross-over posts take away from the traffic on the other 'specific' boards .. and like mom always said .. just because your friends are doing it .. doesn't mean you should!

For the record .. I frequently check those other boards .. Recipes, Home, Pets, etc .. and there are lots of posts on NWR that should be targeted to those other places .. that would absolutely help with the traffic flow .. easing some congestion here, and making the others more interesting. Just my thoughts .. which I'm sure will not be appreciated much.

Of course, we're 'lucky' on this site .. some other sites will move your posts to the appropriate subject board.

I make this too! Frankie loves it but I used to use Ditalini but now he likes it better with shells.
