My company laid off 300 people today and I was one of them. I'm so depressed b/c my wedding is in 5 months. The only good thing is that they are giving me 5 mths severence and paying my cobra until April 1st, plus a portion of my bonus. If ANYONE is a headhunter or knows of someone looking to hire let me know! I'll do anything at this point!

So sorry to hear that Look on the bright side, at least you are getting severence pay and while you are looking for a new job you will hae all that extra time to wedding plan!!!

that's really crappy! I hope you find something...I'll keep my ears open. At least they did the decent thing and gave you severance pay...it helps a little I'm sure

I'm sorry Nancy That's an AWESOME severance package though.... you're lucky in that aspect... and I bet you can collect unemployment as well (if I remember correctly, when I got laid off, I received severance and I was able to collect unemployment). Good luck finding something and try and enjoy the time off in the mean time

try & look at the bright side.. your FH is right you are getting paid to for 5 months AND cobra. aren't you eligible for unemployment too??

I'm sooo sorry this happend to you!! I feel your pain. I went through this a few months ago. I have since landed something so I would definitely be optimistic. I posted on Careerbuilder and Monster and got alot of leads from there. What line of work are you in in case I come across anything?

I AM eligible for unemployment, but someone told me it might not kick in until the severence ends. Once I sign the release agreement and mail it back to them, I can apply for unemployment benefits. I just want to show the agreement to my good friend who's a lawyer so she can tell me if it's all good.
