I miss you girls. A Cautionary Alleged Tale.
Hey, ladies!!! I miss you girls so much, and I miss this site in the worst way. It devastates me that I can't come here and chat anymore, and I can't join you for your excitement for your weddings. Every time I think of weddings I get physically sick, and I haven't been able to talk about it because of a pending legal matter. However, I can't be upset about it for one more day without saying something. Unfortunately, I cannot give you the complete truth, because some parties can afford better lawyers than I can, but maybe I can put it in such a way where you understand that these are simply 'opinions'. So 'Allegedly', here goes the very abridged version:
Allegedly my wedding was ruined by one of my vendors. Allegedly, this vendor promised me certain things, and knew full well that they wouldn't be provided. Allegedly, one of the employees of this vendor, in my opinion, stole one of my deposits. The vendor allegedly contacted me and asked me for a written record of what had transpired with this employee. The vendor allegedly begged me not to report the incident on Long Island Weddings, and in my opinion, I respected that request, because I thought the situation was going to be made right. The employee was then, in my opinion, allegedly fired. Allegedly he was fired predominately due to his theft from me, however, the vendor now allegedly says that that wasn't the case, even though, allegedly, that is what I was told previously. Furthermore, allegedly and in my opinion, this employee had promised me several things in order to get me to sign the contract, and it turned out, he lied. Unfortunately, I found this out six days before the wedding, allegedly, so it was, in my opinion, too late to do anything. I allegedly spent a year of my life planning a wedding that was NEVER going to be what I planned for, because I was lied to in order to get me to sign the contract, in my opinion. It has been almost four months since the wedding. I can't look at pictures. I can't talk about it. I got so upset about it, I developed a series of really pleasant medical issues. I threw out thousands of dollars for a wedding that was nothing like what I expected, in my opinion.
The vendor's reaction? Allegedly, one of their employees saw fit to yell at ME, and to accuse me of being difficult. I don't think these people really realize, in my opinion, that this is one day a girl dreams of all her life, and that it's important to her. They simply did not seem to care, allegedly and in my opinion, and now have given me their lawyer's number, allegedly, and told me to talk to him. They refused, allegedly, to reimburse me one cent, and the offer they made to me to make up for it was so offensive, I cannot even print it here, because that would give away who they are, and they would probably sue ME. Allegedly. They also, in my opinion and allegedly, included in their contract that all disputes were to be resolved in arbitration, and I would be responsible for their legal fees. You know, I saw this before I signed the contract, and thought it was peculiar, but I just stupidly laughed it off, thinking, what could go wrong?
So I'd like to thank you, Vendor, because you know who you are. Do you know that my husband and I have fought mercilessly because I just can't get over what happened, and he can't stand to see me so devastated? Allegedly? My family is forbidden from even mentioning the wedding to me, because I start to cry, allegedly. Thank you for upsetting my entire family, allegedly, and in my opinion. You took all of the joy out of what was supposed to be the greatest day of my life, and in my opinion, none of you seem to be the least bit bothered by it. In my opinion, I don't know what kind of people that makes you, but in my opinion, you should be ashamed of yourselves. You KNOW what happened (allegedly) was wrong, and you KNOW (allegedly) that it really happened, because if it didn't, then why did the employee, allegedly and in my opinion, get fired?
I have so much more to say, but out of respect for LIW, which I have enjoyed immeasurably, and which played such a huge part in my wedding planning, I will not. I would hope they would want people to know this about a vendor, but I guess that's how business works.
Please, please, demand that at least two employees of whatever vendors you choose are present when you sign your contracts, and be sure to go over those contracts with a fine tooth comb, so you are protected if you are allegedly defrauded. I really and truly hope that none of you go through what I did. Four months later, and it's still so raw, I can't believe it. In my opinion, and I guess that's the only opinion that counts because I paid for it, and it was MY AND MY HUSBAND'S WEDDING DAY, I will never be able to look back on my wedding day with joy. I will never look at my album. I will never talk about it with my family. And I thank you, Vendor, for that. I truly hope there is something to Karma, because you are some deserving crew. And you know who you are.
