I thought this was supposed to be enjoyable...

I thought this was supposed to be enjoyable...

At least that's what people tell me. Me and LovelyL are never going to find something that suits us. Every place is now such a great disappointment, because there are so few places left to look.

Today we looked at East Wind. We really liked the property(what we could see in the dark) but we disliked the cocktail room that Country Garden uses. We also weren't crazy about the decor, but given the name we should have thought about that before hand.

Perhaps the biggest setback is the fact that L called Jericho Terrace and they said the best they can do for the room up from the basement is 130 guarentee, instead of 150. Then they said we would be charged Saturday night prices instead of Friday night, because they were dropping the 150 to 130. Well if you do the math on both quote, before tax and service, it's a $200 difference. ($80pp Sat, $72pp Fri) After you add tax and service, it comes out to $600 savings. Big deal, thanks for the help, Frank. I feel mostly bad because L loves that place, and now I really doubt it's going to be there. I want her to be happy, but I'm weirdly against the small room there.

It's also bumming us out that we don't have more than 100 people to come to our wedding. We feel like everyone else has these huge weddings with tons of people. I haven't heard one person tell me(in real life) their wedding is under 150 people. That really f's up the choices you have when it comes to rooms, etc.

Sorry for the vent, but it was just another fustrating night of going nowhere.

I can understand everything you are going through ... I should get my FH on here to share his thoughts about all this (NOT pretty!) He gets so tired of my complaining sometimes...

That said, I'll be the first to admit to you that YES, I'm having a wedding WELL under 150 people! I think once the RSVPs come back, it'll actually come out to @90 people, because so many people just won't be able to make it. I feel a little bad sometimes b/c a big wedding is fun -- but most times I don't feel badly at all, since we are paying for the reception ourselves (and most everything else!)

That said, I DO think you will find your place .. I know you are frustrated and it seems hopeless, but something will work out. We were not hopeful whatsoever when we did our 'weekend of reception place hopping..' Since our engagement is so short we yahd to act fast -- we figured we'd be left scrambling for a place .. and then we went to the Thatched Cottage on a TOTAL whim (I wasn't even going to step foot in it, I hated it from the outside... and it wasn't on my list of places to see) Meanwhile, we loved it the minute we stepped inside.. Mind you, Thatched has gotten a lot of negative feedback on the boards, and does not seem to be popular place on LIW, but for us it just seemed 'Right ' .. (and I liked the fact they just do one wedding at at time!) Its very pretty, IMO

GOOD LUCK and don't worry, you aren't the only one who gets P(@#&ed off about wedding planning!!

Don't let anyone fool you, you're in the worst stage on wedding planning, or at least it was for me! I live in Westchester and went as far north as New Palz and south into LI, 15 places in total. I didn't want the traditional Westchester wedding so I barely looked at anything in my area. Eventially I found the place that was perfect for my FH and I and you will too. Keep your chin up and know that it gets easier from here.

Thing about Millleridge, they said with the small room in the winter we would have to have cocktail and dining in the same room. So we ruled that out.

I'm sorry you guys are having trouble with this and things are not working out with Jericho Terrace. It sounds very frustrating. I wish I could be more help on this situation. Good luck!

George Washington Manor is perfect for a wedding ofabout 100 people. Though, it's old fashioned, and completely the opposite style of Jericho Terrace, so you might not like it.

What about the North Ritz Club? We looked there and liked it a lot. Or George Washington Manor? Wyndham Wind Watch Hotel? I felt the same way. It is so frustrating. Don't worry you will find the right place!! I never thought we would.

Villa Lombardi is on the list, I would have seen it by now but it's tough to get in there for an appointment. Hopefully, we can get in there Monday. That's one of my 'really really really' hope we like this, places.

Others on the list to see still are;
Sand Castle
WOTL
Beach Club
Vineyard (possibly)

Try Larkfield Manor, they have a room that accommadates smaller weddings.

I thought LaGrange Inn was nice, if you want something that is more intimate and warm.
