Today was grandma's memorial mass. As my mom & I were talking to the chaplin, we were thinking of having an empty chair during our ceremony with maybe a boquet of flowers where she would have sat. We were very tight.
She wanted so much to be there physically, I know she'll be there in spirit.
Did anyone else do something like this for a deceased loved one?

What a beautiful way to remember your Grandma! I got tears in my eyes, I'm sorry for your loss.
We're doing a memorial candle for FH's Father and a poem in the program for his grandparents and my one grandmother who are no longer with us.

That is so sweet!!! We are having our cermony at the reception hall, so I know the candle might not be feasable being if it is a windy day. But I like tp read that people are doing it!

Since both of FH's parents are deceased, I would like us to do something but not sure what. Our wedding will be less than a year since his mother passed away (and also the week before Mother's Day).

Jen...that is a great idea, what about using the same flowers she had in her bridal bouquet? Are you going to display her photograph at your wedding? We are displaying all our family wedding photos (both deceased and living)......
Maybe if your grandpa and grandma had written love letters to each other, you could have someone recite it as a reading?

how did that work out with the flowers jenn. I wantetd to do that, but my mom thought it might really get my grandpa upset, i might just stick with the memory candle.
