I went to the store and came back and some guy is sitting in his car in front of my house!

He is in my spot!!!!!!GRRRR!!!
He told me that he is in the neighborhood doing work so not to be alarmed. I don't like someone just sitting there. If he was doing work,he should be doing more than sitting there.

I am not one for drama but I will come to my own defense if I don't care for the way someone speaks to me. That is exactly what I did.

Sue Being a new homeowner, I completely understand your gripe about the guy parking in front of your house. He should have moved when you arrived home with your packages. Period. He's a JERK!

But regarding the misunderstanding, I really think that maybe you are personally just having a bad day and you took Liz's comments the wrong way. It's not something to get upset about, b/c it happens to so many of us all the time - it's the nature of email and chat boards - and despite the little emoticons, it carries no tone and emotion.

I know Liz pretty well, and I think I can confidently say that she is a funny and caring Mommy and friend, and she would not say something sarcastically just to upset someone. I re-read her post a couple times and I just don't get a hint of sarcasm from it. Since Liz just bought her own house and will be moving to the suburbs soon, my guess is she was genuinely curious about where you live, and if there are any 'rules' to where people are entitled to park their cars in your town.

Novembersue,
I was actually curious myself what your repsonse to Liz's questions would be and in no way found it sarcastic. In my own mind, I was wondering - What type of neighborhood you might live in, is it the city, or burbs, a quiet street or perhaps a condo complex with numbered, assigned spots. The latter would explain why someone was in your spot.
I lived in Queens for 25 years. And what used to be a somewhat quiet street, maybe 2 cars per family (1 in driveway, 1 in front) when I was young turned into a crazy, several family per house, with many, soemtimes 5 and 6 cars per house. My mom was always thrilled to get her 'spot' in front of the house and sometimes she'd get lucky. And if I came home and left every neighbors spot open for them, well, I'd be parked in Montauk.

I guess it would have been nice of this guy (who I think we determined was kinda weird anyway) would have started up his car and moved, but hey what are ya gonna do....

Glad he was harmless...

OMG remembered this when I logged off.... I had a neighbor who would go out to the store, move his car and put a garbage can in the street in front of his house, just so someone wouldn't take his spot. Man! Did THAT annoy the sh:t out of me! Reserving spots on a public street, nope, I'd move the can and park there just because.....
