with no $$ issue at hand (but be a little realistic) what would your ring look like -- or describe it---- type of diamond (shape & size) as well as which type of band---

It's a bit blurry, but they're vines and roses. My wedding band has ivy and celtic knotwork on it. It's very symbolic for me: the diamond was my mom's mom's, roses are mine and my mom's favorite flower (and I especially love climbing roses), Ivy was my dad's mom's name, and I am half British/Scottish.

Big is not always better... Theres more or a chance you will have to sacrifice on the clarity b/c a perfect 5ct diamond will set your fh back quiteeee a bitttt

I AGREE 100% but he knows the price range the ring will be in and since my father will be taking care of the wedding costs-- it isnt that big of an issue

this may be true in some cases, but if you have the money, you dont have to sacrifice a thing.
the clarity and color can range in diamonds in all shapes and sizes, including small. its all about the money you have to spend and where you're getting it from (if you have connections, etc.)

I'd get a 1/5 carat Round Brilliant stone with .25 carat pear shaped stones on the side with a platinum band.
The ring I actually got would be my second choice.

Just trust me on this, go to a reputable diamond seller that lets you look at diamonds under microscope, its quite the experience! You learn so much.
I took FH, and he learned so much he bought me a bigger stone lol .. trust me its worth it.
