We didn't have an e-party either, but sent out save the date bookmarks instead of an announcement, which everyone loved.

Re: If you sent out engaged announcements but had no e-party - read this

We sent out STD's that were our announcement. Only to people we definitely were inviting. We had a small engagement dinner (my dad and brother, his parents). JMO but I don't believe in large engagement parties. I think a lot of people just have them to get more gifts(or raise money for the wedding) and that's not what it should be about. Also it does imply another gift contribution for guests and the costs of a wedding (hosting and going as a guest) are ridiculous.

I know this is just your opinion and I am in NO way trying to start drama on this thread I just want to comment. There are people who have engagement parties to celebrate! Like I said above I didn't have one because the timing wasn't right but for me it would have been about having a party and getting together with friends and family to celebrate my engagement. I don't think everyone who has an engagement party is looking to raise money for the wedding.

I think we will send out announcements to at least let everyone know it's official. FI is on board with sending announcements. And he is okay with having a small family get together - at home or his brother's place not a hall.
