I'm a dork, I know, but more questions.

Okay, so being that we just got engaged, we are being told to wait, but I don't know how long to wait .. we have no idea when to do things. My mom didn't have a real wedding, nor did his mother. So when do we go for engagment pictures? When do we do engagment announcements? When do I start planning a wedding? Where do I look for good photographer for the photos? Ahhh I don't know where to start! Your help will be greatly appreciated.

you can start now!!! do you have an idea of what kind of wedding you want...traditonal...outdoor??
i would look at the photographers the girls on here have been going to ...they usually put a review up after they meet with them
after you book the photo they usually give ur engagement pics free if they are doing ur wedding ...you could even have an engagement party now ...i had mine last year...what else???

we're all different! You got ur slackers (that's me and the other jess) who haven't booked a hall yet. Then you've got your over achievers who have almost everything booked. It's really up to you, if you know you want a certain vendor that is more popular you might want to book them immediately.

my mom had a wedding but my g-ma paid so they didnt get to choose anything so she wants me to do it all... which i like.

We decided that we didnt have any money for an engagement party so we decided to send out engagement announcements instead... i took a pic of the 2 of us from superbowl and went to target and made announcements that cost me 75 $ and they came out really nice.. ill post a pic for u to see.

We waiting about a month to start looking at RH. I wanted that to be the first thing we did. we looked at 8 different places and we loved them all. so we finally made our decision in oct. and thats the only thing we've done so far. so your not too behind

Well, we already said November 1st, 2008 is definite, a sunset wedding ... ( i love my sunsets ).. we're going to have a black & white wedding, not formal, but casual formal ( you can wear a jacket no tie, or a tie and no jacket) .. Colors I'm going with for decorations and flowers are orange, red and yellow... BM's dresses are going to be black .. obivously.. and we're most likely going with the bellport country club because my moms friend owns it and a cousin of mine had her engagment party there and everyone loved it...

ahhhh thank you ladies ... you'll be seeing more of my annoying butt !!! lol

We got engaged back in february but we didn't start any major wedding planning until may. We wanted to wait until the semester was over to focus on the wedding. We had an engagement party back in april. It was something really low key. It was at my house. Our mom's cooked, and our close family and bridal party was invited since we didn't have to room to invite everyone. It was really nice and we made a lot of money for the wedding.
After booking the hall, we started hitting up bridal expos to get ideas on vendors. We focused on music and photo first. We ended up booking with people we had found on this site instead of at the expos, but seeing others work starts giving you ideas on what style pics you want, if you want a band or dj and gives you an idea on prices so that you can budget it.
Above all, come up with a budget first!!! See how much you can afford to spend and try not to see people who are too far out of your budget. Their work/venue/talent will be out of this world, but that's why they're expensive. If you have 200 people you need to invite and a $20,000 budget, don't look at places like Oheka castle because you will fall in love and either end up going for broke, or be disappointed with the hall you had to 'settle' on.
Enjoy the process. You are hopefully only a bride once so make this a happy time. HTH

I dunno...I always though the order was:
Hall
Band/ DJ
Photog & videog
honeymoon
Flowers
Limos
Favors
Etc.....

I def have not followed any of that...I have my favors down and my toss for the ceremony LOL
No hall, no band, no flowers, i might have a limo and a trolley co., and i have an idea about photog and videog...yeah...

We need to book a hall and set a friggin date already...this board is gonna start JUMPING in about a month with all the newly engaged couples and I'm gonna lose my mind if we don't book by then....i don't want these newbies taking my days!

No seriously though...it all comes down to Someone needs to show me where the tree is so I can pick some $100s off and book Flowerfield already and be

Yea you definitely have every right to start looking for everything now!

For engagement pictures, you might want to wait till you pick your photographer cause a lot of the time it's included in the package.

Just remember it's never to early to get an idea of what you want and we're all here to help!
