I just got my first trays! They had to put these weird anchor things on my teeth that they will remove when it's all done...that was a little uncomfortable and everything feels really weird now....
But you can hardly see them on me or FH! And he should be completely done with them by the wedding--I'll just have the bottom ones left, and I of course won't wear them on the wedding day. And my bottom teeth should be 80% straighter by then.
Yayy! Only issue is they are EXTREMELY difficult to get out...FH has had them since yesterday and he figured out a good way to do it and he said he'd show me when he got home from work. But already I sense I will be breaking a lot of nails getting them in and out!

Re: I'm invasalign-ed!
thats awesome..ive actually been thinking of getting them for myself...i had braces for 3 years when i was younger, but apparently that was a waste because my bottom teeth moved.
are they expensive?? covered by insurance? also, did they have to take a mold of your teeth with the big tray that makes you gag?? ughh hate that
tia!

Re: I'm invasalign-ed!
Good luck with them! I was gonna get them but instead I'm doing the Incognito ones (I think). I go for the full consultation this monday to review my options. I'm soooo excited!
How long are you and FH gonna have to wear them?

I was quoted $5000 by an othrodontist...but since FH and I were our dentist's 'guinea pigs' with them and are his first two invisalign patients, we got them for $3500 each. My dentist is extremely neurotic and I know he will do them perfectly, haha =) And invisalign the company does most of the work anyway. And they aren't covered by insurance, but I think you get a discount with dental insurance.
And yeah they had to take a mold =( but it was very quick!

FH has to wear the top for 4 months, and the bottom for 10 months. He takes them off like a week before our wedding day probably!
I have to wear the top for 5 months, and the bottom probably 11 months. My bottom teeth are a mess
And as with every case, you get a retainer at the end that you have th wear every night for life. Both the orthodontist and dentist said your teeth will continue to move if you let them--and it makes sense, since FH had braces and had perfectly straight teeth when we started dating 7 years ago!

Re: I'm invasalign-ed!
That's awesome! I looked into it years ago. I had braces for many years but I never wore my retainer (apparently you are supposed to wear it every night for the rest of your life ). So I looked into it and my mom was going to loan me the money, but lo and behold a tree fell on my car and I had to buy a new one. And I had just started working and I didn't think patients would respect me as their nurse looking so young and having braces, so that wasn't an option either. Good for you for getting it done before the wedding!

Re: I'm invasalign-ed!
if you don't mind me asking, who was the orthodontist that you saw? I went to one and he said it would take 5 mos but that it would cost 6500...way too much! I need a recommendation!

I went here: http://www.northportharbororthodontics.com/
to the one in Northport. He was giving us a deal with FH's dental insurance and because we were both doing it. He was super nice and if not for the sweet deal I got with my dentist I would have used him!

Re: I'm invasalign-ed!
Congrats! I'll be getting an invisalign retainer on the top teeth when my traditional braces come off in a week.
Let me know when you figure out how to remove them, as I'll need the same tip!

Congrats!! I looked into this also but I could not afford to spend $5000 but hopefully after the wedding I can look into them again!
Your teeth are going to look great!

I am INVASALIGNs biggest fan.. did it about 3 years ago and I was obsessed!! Loved what it did to my teeth, and loved the fact that I could take them out! But listen to the dr. and leave them as much as you can. Believe me you will see the difference quicker!!!!! Good Luck!

Re: I'm invasalign-ed!
I had them 10 years ago bc I was a senior in hs and didn't want braces--- definitely wear the retainer because 5 years after I was done I went back for a refinement bc my teeth shifted from not wearing it... when you start a new set it is harder to take them out but after a day or 2 your teeth adjust more and more to fit the tray and it becomes much easier.

Aww thank you My top teeth aren't terrible, but in certain pictures/light you can really see that a few are crooked.
You can't see my bottom teeth when I smile but when I talk you can...and they are awful. Really, really crooked!! Even the dentist said 'wow, you have some crooked bottom teeth!'

Thank you! I actually like them in better than out--when they are out I can feel the anchors on my teeth and I hate it!

Haha so my FH's advice helped in the fact that I could sort of pry them out (the trick is to start in the way back pulling them off each side, then pull them off the front.) But I def need to keep my nails way shorter to do this...I already broke 1!
That's kind of a bummer since I love my nails....but oh wells
