if I should invite my guests (that are single) with 'and guest'. I know I was invited to a few weddings with 'and guest' (and the bride knew I didn't have anyone) when I didn't have a BF. So now im confused on what to do. What is everyone elso going to do? I think i over analyze everything.

Re: Im not sure.....
we are only inviting guests if they have a significant other, that they have been dating for a while... personally i dont feel like paying $110 for FI's guy friends to bring their flavor of the week... however, when it comes to collegeues that are older and single, i may invite a guest so that they feel more comfortable

We are only inviting the significant others. We are putting 'and guest' on a few invitations, but we don't really expect them to bring a guest.

We are inviting everyone with guest. I am 29, and FH is 32...so most of our friends are already hitched. We feel it is a little insulting to the single gang to make them go stag. We hope they will not bring 'randoms' to the wedding (they would have to entertain them all night anyway).
I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on this one, so it's whatever you can afford/feel comfortable with.
Good Luck.

I am with you on this one. But man did I ever laugh at 'flavor of the week'.
I have been invited to many weddings with dates when I was not attached to anyone and I thought it would be in poor taste to bring someone just so I'd have someone to dance with. The only way I would have done so would be if I did not know a soul who was attending.

We are inviting people with guest if they are in a serious relationship when the invites go out. Otherwise they will not be invited with guest. I agree that I don't want to pay for my friends who simply bring someone just to have a date.

I'm inviting everyone with a guest -- but like the other girl posted, we are in our 30's and most people are married or living with someone. However, I have maybe 10 single people and I am not going to make them come alone. They can bring who they want -- I want everyone to be comfortable and have a great time.

I'm with you on this. We'll both be 28 at the time of our wedding, and most of our friends are either married or engaged. For the few friends and family members who are single, Idon't want them to feel left out or uncomfortable. I don't believe they will bring 'just anyone.' also, how do you determine what is a 'real realationship, or significant other'. Someone who has been dating a few months? 6months? a year? Think back to when you first started dating your FH. Wouldn't you have wanted to bring him to a wedding, even when you had been going out a couple of months? I brought my FH to my friends wedding (in which I was a BM) when we had only been dating for 2 months. I would have been really upset if I had been invited without a guest and unable to bring him. Remember also when the invitations went out for that wedding we had only been going out about a month. Is that considered a siginifcant relationship?

We're going to invite everyone with a guest. I want everyone to feel comfortable and have a good time. I know that most of my close friends, if they're invited with guest but aren't seeing anyone seriously, will come alone. For those people that don't really know that many people at the wedding though, I think inviting them with a guest will make them feel more comfortable. You should do whatever is best for you and your budget. When we were calculating our guest list/budget, we did it assuming that everyone would be invited with a guest. Good luck!
