Ok so last night FH and I went to Michaels and we found DIY invites and programs that we LOVE! We would be saving like $400 if we went with these instead of going to the professional that my Mom used for her November 2007. Now don't get me wrong, this professional is AMAZING! Very helpful and just awesome! However, we would be paying like 4x the cost. My mom and my sister think DIY invites are tacky. But I don't think they are at all. FH and I really want to do them ourselves to save the cost plus we love this pattern and it goes perfectly with our theme. What are your thoughts? In order to help you out, here is a link the invite kit that we love...
Mine and FH's take on invites is this: People will probably look at them twice; once when they get it and a few days before the wedding to check time and location. After that it will be thrown in the trash. If you can save $400 I say do it.

Those are really nice and don't look tacky at all. I think invites are a good thing to save money on and $400 is a lot to me. Go with the DIY kit.

Those are very pretty. If you want them and your FH wants them you should do it.

Those are really pretty! We are doing DIY programs also from Michaels. I have them in my album if you want to see. If you and your FH like them, then I'd say go for it. You're going to save yourself a lot of money.

I say do what you want and don't worry about your mom's opinion. If it saves you $$ then why not?

Re: In a bit of a pickle
i say do it...believe me i have thrown out my fair share of invitations so y spend big bucks...$400 can buy you something else for the wedding...or even a mini vacation so save the money and do them yourself if you can.
those invitations are very nice, not tacky at all.

This is how we think also..we are doing them ourselves but fh is a graphic designer so that helps us out big time i'm not so creative! Those invites look beautiful tho!
