Well, I had to respond to the Z100 'Holiday Wedding' issue, as I happen to know some of those guys and was really shocked myself to hear them take the stance that they did on this topic.
I couldnt believe they would say those things, and I wanted to find out a little more info.
So I managed to speak to one of the producers today, and they told me, like a lot of you had thought, 'oh it was just a 'bit' for the show', and that they often take topics and each take a side to create more drama.
I was really surprised that Danielle took the angle that she she did, because she loves weddings and is always promoting them, and in fact has been out to LI to many Bridal Fairs and reception hall promotions. I heard that she was actually really upset at how it came across, and it is such a shame because I have met her a few times and she is such a sweet person, and would help any bride out with any info she has. I have emailed her myself with some wedding questions, and she always writes me back with any help she can give. I dont think she realized how it was coming across and I think she was just just thinking it was a joke topic and not realizing that it could really upset a lot of us who are getting married on or around Holiday Weekends.
Sometimes people do and say things they regret, and I think the Zoo realize that they may have gone a bit far on this one. But although I'm also disappointed in them, I think they know they made a mistake, and I'm sorry to see them getting trashed so much for it. I know they did the damage themselves, but they really are good hearted people, who do so much good and charitable stuff for people in this area, especially Danielle, and I dont know why they would have gone down this road and isolated some listeners by going with this topic.
It is sad, because they have a clean, fun morning show, and didnt have to go there on this subject - even if it was just to stir up some controversy.
Anyway, I'm sorry this is so long, and I know some of you will probably trash me too here, but it's just my opinion, and it made me a little sad thats all.

I'm in agreement too. If there were a lurker from Z100 reading this, and then publicized all this non-sense on the radio, I'd be pretty embarassed. Next year when we're married, we won't even care about a topic such as this on the radio.

ha, there are quite a few actually.
What you have to understand is that a lot of people get VERY sensitive and stressed out over anything wedding related when they are planning a wedding. As a co-worker (who just returned from his honeymoon) said to me this afternoon: 'and just be prepared, you will yell and scream and lose it completely over tiny details, no matter what you do.' We put hours and hours and hours and thousands of dollars into our weddings. Some people even take out loans and sacrifice for years for these things. And for some people, hearing those choices being insulted on a very popular public radio station is just too much.
I agree we should hug and make up and let it go. The z100 folks probably won't apologize, no matter how wrong they were. They'd probably laugh their a$$es off if they read how upset people here are. S*cks, but there it is.
To the original poster - if you really are a bride, then welcome. If not... well... I'm sure you've already noticed how sensitive folks are around here about fakes.

I agree, but one thing I do disagree with is them reading posts on here and reading them on the air. That to me is not right!
same here. anyone who listens to the zoo knows that 9 times out of 10 it's not their real opinions and they just say and do stuff to keep the listeners interested. so i really dont pay any mind to what they say and their opinions. but it was definitely offensive to actually read someone elses's opinions (posts) without their consent. that's just rude.

I think this whole thing is silly. People who we want at our weddings are going to be there for us no matter when our wedings are. It is our day and the important people don't care when it is so who cares what a few thoughtless people have to say. it is just a matter of opinion. Holiday weekend girls dont stress your wedding will be perfect rememeber that's what is important.

I honestly have no f-ing clue as to what happend on Z100 but I started to read this thread. I don't know whether this person is a but I do know that they spent some time reading posts on here, then posted a few things and then had the nerve to insult the people who come on here regularly. Now I'm going to read more and find out what happened.
