What would you do if you found your DH/FH/FW cheated? Let's say it was not an on-going thing and the two of you have been together for quite some time....
Forgive? Forget? Fight? Leave the relationship? Work it out?

ONCE A CHEATER ALWAYS A CHEATER!
more lies
i've cheated (few years before i meet FW & not with FW) and it was actually a good thing. I taught me alot about people, life, love, respect and feeligns.
No one said you had to forget about it but if you forgive and understand.... i can understand.
if a relationship is honest..there would be no need to cheat. if i didn't make FW happy, i told to flat out leave and find a person that would make ya happy..just don't cheat
this is not a lie...it was MY OPINION

I believe cheating is ANY form of physical, emotional contact with another person. Thats my opinion. I would not tolerate it, the trust would be gone, I could never look him in the eye again without wondering if hes doing it again.

even a friend of the opposite sex (as some people on this thread have stated that they have?)

Over in a second. I've been in a relationship with someone who cheated, and you never get over it... it really changes everything. I have never cheated, and never plan on doing so... I firmly believe that before it happens, you can stop yourself, and talk to your FH/DH/boyfriend FIRST, or just end the damn relationship before it happens... it's the most disrespectful act, really...

It would be controversial of me to say yes, however in my experience there is always a 'tension' there.

I think you can have opposite sex friendships. I mean, if both people have no feelings for each other, than nothing is going to happen.
Someone like my brother keeps in touch with, and sometimes hangs out with ex-girlfriends. Now I could see a current girlfriend getting pissed about that. (no, he doesn't cheat on the current with the old)

i dont think it's controversial of you to say yes... i think it's consistant with your beliefs... you can't have things both ways.

Hmm-- After flipping out in him, I would just wish him luck and then turn the available swtich on again.

sorry if you took that harsh... your opinion is wrong in my eyes and maybe others...till you lived it..you don't know nor have control of it so how do you judge?

Actually i have lived it on both sides of the coin..SO i know how i would judge.. .And i understand what you are saying, maybe i miss wrote.. When i said once a cheater always a cheater... i meant in the confines of a marraige. Yes i understand people learn from cheating (i did..when i was 18). But i was a kid... When people get married i would hope they are adults who repect their partner And if you can cheat on your wife/husband once (having no regard for their feelings as a mature adult) then i do believe you will do it again!

Love this answer .. and I couldn't agree more
I've been cheated on before.. almost all of my ex's did it to me .. (I know, I dated a bunch of losers) And in some cases I tried to stick with it, but I was never truly able to move past it and forgive and forget.

Re: Inspired by a post on BHB..on cheating
I have to agree with the majority of the posts here and vote for GOODBYE! Speaking from personal experience, it is absolutely the most horrible feeling in the world to be in love with someone to the point where you've given them that trust, only to find that it was never taken seriously. I was in a relationship all throughout high school in this situation, and I was crushed when I found out, but allowed it to happen by never taking a stand againt it once I knew. Condoning cheating is just letting yourself get walked on, and if he did it once and you forgave him, what's to stop him from doing it again?? When I finally had the courage and self respect to break it off, even thoguh it was really painful, I knew it was the right thing to do becasue I deserved more than that. God forbid if this ever happened with my DH, I think it would just kill me and I could never look at him as the same person again after that, even if I tried. Trust has always been first and foremost in our relationship, and cheating - no matter what definition you give it -just outright defys that trust. To me, cheating is cheating, there are no exceptions or allowances in my book anyway. Yikes, awful thought of my DH cheating on me just makes me nauseous!

Why should there be a definition to cheating? Cheating is cheating!
When you get married, your making a committment to one another - and only to each other...there is no inbetween.
Do you mean flirting isn't cheating? If you continuingly flirt with someone - you might be leading the other on untentionally....so you have to draw boundaries somewhere. Just curious.
Even if sexual relations aren't involved, kissing and touching anyone else is out of the question, i think you girls and guys will agree with me on that!

First you ask why there should be a definition to cheating...Then you say kissing and touching someone else is out of the question...So which is it?

Re: Inspired by a post on BHB..on cheating
Well I think there can also be such a thing as emotional cheating. There is a married man at my job who goes out to lunch every day with a woman who works here, runs to her with his problems (non-work related), and really just hangs out with her constantly. I would be upset if my FI was getting emotionally involved with another woman to the extent that he turned to her, possibly before me, to share his feelings....

I don't know you tell me - perhaps you misunderstood me - i meant that kissing and touching is certainly cheating also.

What if you caught him in a chat room writing explicit messages, or having cyber sex? We discussed that in a class I had once. Most men thought it wasnt cheating, since nothing physical happened, but the women considered it cheating...

you raise interesting points...
note: i am truly not trying to argue with anyone...i just love relationships and dynamics and love to get other peoples opinions on things.
