Invitation Costs- SERIOUSLY?!!

It's freakin PAPER!!! Why are invitations so expensive?? I went to Paper Source today and I saw some really pretty ones, I would need 75 and with the RSVP card its coming out to about $600. My parents are paying for my wedding, and I just feel so guilty asking them to pay $600 ++ for paper. We don't have the money right now for them, so that's not an option..

Is anyone DIYing your invitations? Anyone know of a cheaper option? I did my own save the dates, but they were easy.. these seem way more intricate.

I have a while to go until my invites go out (August of 2014) but this is driving me nuts!!

Invitation Costs- SERIOUSLY?!! - Long Island Weddings

Try J&D invitations in Merrick, they have all prices and do great work. They created a custom invite that I saw in Etsy for half the price.

Invitation Costs- SERIOUSLY?!! - Long Island Weddings

hesawsparks on etsy- she sells all PDFs for invites and will send them back and forth until the wording is perfect.. it was sososo simple really... I paid just over $2 an invite WITH postage! lol

I got 350 sheets of metallic paper from thepapermillstore.com for like $40 (aspire petallics- comes in a ton of colors, I did the beargrass color. They sell the matching RSVP and reg. envelopes too) and printed them on the laser printers at my school. Then I used a paper cutter and and basically cut on the lines that the seller had on the PDF. Then depending on if you are doing pocketfolds or not, you can buy gluedots and assemble them.

If you just want regular invites, then it's even easier- just buy a PDF that looks nice, print them at a place where you know there are laser printers (free) or bring them to a kinko's and pay to get them printed, and cut them yourself with a paper cutter!

I understand there are people who spend thousands on their invite.. my post was to ask how to spend next to nothing. My father is blessing me with the things that matter to me, I can't have it all..

Thank you SO much that's super helpful! I have a laser printer with the toners, but everytime I print on card stock it comes out curved, not flat.. trying to figure out how to fix that!

Invitation Costs- SERIOUSLY?!! - Long Island Weddings

Ellen from Addressed to Impress worked within my budget and came in under that price for 100 invites, RSVP postcards and reception cards. I don't know how to DIY stuff, I'm not crafty at all, so I had to find someone to work within my budget.

I hear ya! Invites can be ridiculously expensive and IMO it's such a waste. It will end up in the garbage so why pay so much. I ordered my invitations through Etsy from vendor DesigedWithAmore. For 80 invitations, RSVP cards and envelopes I spend about $240. This shop (as well as others on Etsy) also offer to design your stationary but give you the option to purchase a PDF file and you can handle the printing in your own. I had the shop print my invitations but for everything else such as table numbers, menus, etc I purchased the PDF file.

I got my invitations from Vista Print and I loved them. I upgraded to the Linen paper to make them look more elegant. Very happy with them.

cardsandpockets.com

I didn't use them but they were recommended to me and I was told they have great quality and everything you could be looking for.

I ordered samples from cardsandpockets.com to check out the colors, I'm DIY-ing my invites in a way. I'm pretty much ordering PDF files from Etsy sellers (different ones for invite and RSVP) and assembling the whole thing myself. Cardsandpockets.com is awesome, and samples always have free shipping.
