The US post office in general just does not offer the level of service they used to (apologies to anyone who works for the USPO) They used to return mail that was improperly addressed or was obviously misaddressed. Now, even when the return address is clearly on the envelope, they just get dumped in a black hole. At least in the city, I have lost all faith in the PO. At one time, they were the most reliable service in the US, now, its just taking your chances.

It was so weird because my mom mailed out the invitations from Albertson. People in the next town didn't get theirs for days while people in Brooklyn got it the next day. It's so weird.

So far I know one of my guests didnt receive hers. I ordered my invites from weddingpaperdivas and I actually did notice that the glue on some of the envelopes was off. I should have used double sided tape on top of it

At LEAST two of ours have disappeared courtesy of the USPS, as well (including one of my bridesmaids')! Our response deadline just passed and we have quite a few non-responses. I'm nervous it was actually a lot more than two...

My mom took ours to the post office to get weighed and the woman working there was a SUPER b*tch to her and said that because our return address was on the back we were probably going to get a bunch back in the mail unless we got them hand cancelled (which we were doing anyway).

That's so weird. Having the return address on the back is standard for invites and threw a bunch like that in the mailbox.

Re: invitation drama
soooo...we sent 3 invitations to one address (FH's aunt & uncle, and 2 adult cousins) and only ONE got delivered. So I guess I have reason to be nervous now about who else may not have gotten one. *** USPS!!! I also have to call USPS today because I ordered some vintage books for wedding decor and they were delivered to my building, but I never got it. I live in a small, safe building and get things delivered at least once a week so this is ridic.

This is so much BS! I really hate the USPO. I just got back from the PO and they told me the exact opposite. We have our address embossed on the back and they said they WOULD NOT hand cancel them unless I 'darkened' the address. So I just said, 'fine, I will take my chances and not hand cancel them' I just dumped them in the box. I only have a wax seal on the back, its almost flat, so I don't care if it gets a little cracked. But I will be so pissed if they send them back BECAUSE the return address isnt dark enough! That doesn't even make sense!
