Invite that says 'money from Invitees, NO Gifts'..
Original post by Kathy116
Am I the only one that thinks this is a little pushy or just 'different'?
It's from a BRIDAL SHOWER invite that I received.

A registry is only a suggestion of what the bride and groom would like to receive. By no means is anyone bound to it when shopping for the gift. I'm curious what everyone does at such a shower? I hope they don't announce the amounts for everyone to ooh and aah! This invitation is not only poor etiquette but it's written in a very crude way and shows no manners. Don't be surprised if ladies are invited who won't even be invited to the wedding. Another bridal shower no-no!

VERY tacky! A bridal shower, IMO, is really to shower the bride with gifts. If the bride doesn't need anything, should she really be having a shower?

I would give her a small gift and a souvenir million dollar bill. Maybe the bride doesn't even know what her bridal party wrote in the invite.

So if the majority of you think that's tacky....then FI and I shouldn't put the money bag with the $ sign on our e-party invites? Is that the general concensus.
J/K of course...I think 'no gifts' should mean no gifts, monetary or otherwise.

I don't think that's appropriate at all. Whenever you are invited anywhere, it is the guest's decision what to give.

Seems really tacky, but please be sure to let us know if she got mostly cash or gifts if you attend the shower. I am dying to know how people at her shower will react. I want to know if they spitefully bought a gift or complied with the request and gave cash!!!

FH and I both had our own homes, and combined, but there were still things we needed...some things we had needed to be replaced also. Even if I had everything I could ever want & it was all brand new, I would specify NO GIFTS AT ALL before I would ever ask for MONEY ONLY!!!
