Re: Invite time vs real ceremony time
I just had this same problem except I forgot to make the 1/2 adjustment on my invites so I just moved my ceremony a half hour.
Have the invite say 3pm because people are ALWAYS late.

Re: Invite time vs real ceremony time
Be careful with fudging times, some places get REALLY pissed off if you purposely put an earlier time.
I doubt a church will have a problem with guests arriving early. But I was threatened on pain of death by my RH (surpriiiiiiiiiiiise, surprise!) if I put 7:00 instead of 7:30 for CH start.

Re: Invite time vs real ceremony time
i put the real time. if people were late, i didn't notice. i don't think its really fair to those who arrived with plenty of time...if i was a guest and had to wait an extra 30 min, i would be pi$$ed. jmho...

I put our real time too.... people know its a wedding and need to show up on time. If they are late, they are late.... I wasnt going to punish the people who arrive to places on time for people who are constantly late.

Re: Invite time vs real ceremony time
I put the real time and didnt have any issues. The church was packed when I got there. CHeck with your church too cause there may be something going on that day before you.
The day of my wedding the church had communions in the am, a wedding and a funeral and a wedding after me. So if my guests came any earlier there would have been a problem.

Re: Invite time vs real ceremony time
I put the real time simply because if i was given a time that i was told to be there and then had to wait 30 minutes I might be like ***? Ya know? Most people leave (or should) some fudge time to be early or on time! We had people arrive 30 minutes early and never wrote it on there!

I put the real time. Wasn't aware of the 'fake time on the invite' lol. It's a Saturday so hopefully people will give themselves enough time to get there.

Re: Invite time vs real ceremony time
def do 3pm....i always assume invites are 30 mins earlier then the start. We showed up to a wedding a month ago a little late bec they actually started early and there was a ton of traffic.

Re: Invite time vs real ceremony time
I put 15 min early just in case. I didnt want to go to 30 min early and my RH said it wouldnt be a problem. I would check with where your having the ceremony first.

Re: Invite time vs real ceremony time
My ceremony starts at 6:30 I put 6pm on the invite because my RH gives a half hour 'welcome room' with coffee, champagne and strawberries!

Hmm I liked the 15 min early the best. Do you think it would look stupid if I put 3:15. haha or a quarter passed the hour??

I did this too but then everyone showed up about 30 before that. . probably bc most people really think weddings start on time and I felt bad bc it actually started LATE due to some serious drama at the RH . (not related to my wedding) so people just sat around a while and were actually there while we were taking pictures. . so I think maybe the 15 minute idea works too! or you could put 3:00 welcome 3:30 ceremony
