We are trying to figure out our invitations & save the dates....problem is me & my FH both work together at a small office of about 20 people. He has worked there for 15 yrs & I for 2 yrs. He says its easier if we invite the whole office - but there is at least 1 person who I strongly dislike / don't get along with. Problem is this person is close to my boss & other co-workers. Should I invite the whole office & just not her?? There are maybe 4 people who we go out with after work, but a few people have helped me by giving me hints on where to get a dress, photographer, etc. but I don't necessarily hang out with them & 1 or 2 that invited us to their wedding. FH is worried that if I don't invite everyone or especially this person*&! that they will treat me badly after the wedding & make my life miserable (even though they already try too anyway - invited everyone else to a lunch but me last week :( ) I really do not want this person at my wedding, but find it hard to seperate people at work into groups & too exclude people. Can anyone help?? please!!

Re: Inviting Coworkers you Dislike !! HELP!!
I personally would not invite somebody that I didn't like and that was giving me a hard time.

Don't feel obligated to invite everyone from your office. I've been at my current job for 2 years and I'm not inviting any of them. I don't see anyone outside of work and if I invite one I'm gonna have to invite all 7 in my dept.
this is my situation. and i really dont know what i am going to do yet.....

If you don't care about offending her, then don't invite her. If it's going to make things awkward at work, and you're having a big wedding, just invite the whole office. You probably won't even notice her.

i have the same dilemma... some people at work were inviting themselves but i don't even chat with them or hang out with them at all and they're rude... i've been telling everyone it's a small wedding (which it is) and i'm only inviting people that i actually see outside of work... when it comes down to it i think invite those that are supportive to you and if she makes your life miserable already what's the difference IMO

It's your wedding and it's COMPLETELY up to you! If you don't them there then don't invite them. I am having a similar problem too and I hope this helps a little bit. My FSIL's best friend made my life a LIVING HE*LL during my FSIL's wedding. She was the maid of honor and made sure that i knew that and that I was only gonig to be a sister in law but she's FSIL's other half (which isn't true she just thinks that). She made me cry during the WHOLE engagement and was a complete, well you know what. I HATE this girl. I was talking to FH about our invite list and he just doesn't want to deal with the drama of NOT inviting her. I told him I don't want to invite people I don't like but after talking to friends and FSIL I realized that we are having a wedding of at least 225 and I won't even know she's there. PLUS, if there is a problem, I have no problem asking her to leave. After all, it's our wedding and it should be special but sometimes the drama just isn't worth it. A wedding is supposed to be the most special day of your life and you are supposed to enjoy it. If this 1 person is going to ruin it, then don't invite them but if you really won't notice they are there then just put on that fake smile and enjoy your day. Think about it, do you love ALL of your family or people's boyfriends/girlfriends? Are you still inviting them?
Good luck and I hope this helps!

I was in a similar situation. I wanted to invite nearly everyone in my department except for 2 people. We really don't like each other! But these two people are pretty 'mouthy' in the department and I really didn't want to hear all the bullsh*t and trash talk so I wound up inviting both of them. They never even THOUGHT about coming, but I did get the phony, 'thank you so much for inviting me - that's so thoughtful!' In the end, I'm glad I extended the invitation but thankful that they didn't come

How are they inviting themselves? Just don't share any details of the wedding with them, and when the time comes and they realize you never asked them for contact info, I think they will get that they are not invited lol.

We are not inviting anyone from work. This is a family & close friend thing for us. There are people at work we are close to, that we would invite, than, there are others we dislike. For the sake of a good working environment we chose not to invite anyone from work. We said it was economic reasons. That kept the peace at the workplace. Nobody was slighted or disappointed.

Way too much thinking involved. It's your wedding and you're not obligated to do anything that you don't like. How does FH feel about that 1 coworker?

ITA! My dad is a Business Rep in Local 3 and EVERYONE thinks that they are invited to our wedding! I kindly tell people 'o we haven't done the guest list and we both have really big families'. With 25,000 members, you have to start saying no to people. Don't let people invite themselves. It's rude and I'm sure you can save money if you don't or invite people who are more important to you.
