Hello. So I've been at my job for over 4 years now and am close with my co-workers. Thing is, I can't invite them all. But we are a small office, so I can't invite one and not all. If you were a co-worker would you be upset or offended if you weren't invited? I honestly don't think I can include any of them now, the room will be too crowded. Your opinion is appreciated!

I wouldn't be offended. But I am also not inviting any except my 2 bosses.

Re: Inviting work people
I would love to hear from more people on this. I work in a relatively small office too (about 12 of us). However, that seriously adds to your guest list when you invite people with their spouses etc. There are several people I am close with and several I am friendly, but not close with and don't socialize with. however, it seems so odd to not invite them. Ugh. I should feel less bad about this as a co-worker recently had a housewarming party and only invited a few people from the office.
anyway, how do people feel about this? Would you be offended?

That's exactly my situation here. AND they think they are invited. I think I'll have to just say, more family are coming than expected and I'd love to have everyone, but I just can't fit it. I still feel terrible though

Re: Inviting work people
I'm inviting two people from work that I am close with. I work with a lot of people, so I asked around to see what other people had done when they got married.

Re: Inviting work people
I agonize over this constantly! In some ways I feel like I spend so much time with these people that I cannot imagine my wedding without them, but then on the other side of the coin I ask myself - If I wasn't working here anymore, would I still invite them? Then I am not so sure. I have much time to decide, but I don't see how you can invite some and not others. Such a dilemma!

Re: Inviting work people
I think I'll wait until I get some NO responses, and then see if I can fit them. It would be total about 15 or so guests, which adds up in the Carriage House which is a small room. It's so stressful! I really would feel bad not inviting them, and there is NO way I can invite some and not all. Oh well.

My FH was asking the same thing the other day. He works in a small office, I told him to invite the bosses only.

Re: Inviting work people
I have the same kinda problem, but I am hoping that since I live in Virginia, not many of them will want to travel to LI for a wedding. BUt I am just inviting to people at work that I am friends with, its about 6 people, but I only excect one or two of them to show up.

Re: Inviting work people
this is SO on my mind to. I think I'm gonna stick with all or none. I know that seems mean, but I gotta cut my GL down a bit.
We'll see as time gets closer.
Good Luck

this is exactly my opinion on it as well. I work in a VERY small office for a highway construction company. Our office consists of 3 men and myself. I've invited all of them from the office. The field though...there are something like 12-20 men at any given time. I've not invited any of them, though some of them I've worked with since I started here (7 years ago). It was a hard decision, but I don't see them all that often (except when they come in for their paycheck) and there's just too many of them, period.

Re: Inviting work people
I will have a total of 20 people (with guests)...the whole office. The only other option is to narrow it down to inviting only the Bosses or the people you socialize with outside of work

Re: Inviting work people
i wasn't going to invite anyone from here, not even my bosses, but than I heard its in bad form not to, so i have 5 bosses to invite (one overall boss, and four from various projects.) luckily i live OOT so HOPEFULLY they won't want to go. sad and mean, i know, but true.

I'm just going to explain to them (or lie and say) more family is coming from Greece than expected and the small room just doesn't fit everyone. I think they will understand.

I am inviting all my dept, which is 9. If they bring their spouse or a guest, that will be 18.

Re: Inviting work people
I am inviting my dept (4 people, not too bad) and a few friends. It was difficult! FH is not inviting anyone. Mom and Dad are teachers and are inviting their departments. FMIL is inviting her dept.

I am inviting a couple and then my bosses as well. I also work in a small office (about 15 total) but, I cannot feel obligated to invite people whom I don't speak to.

Re: Inviting work people
I had a similar situation. I used to work in a small office of an investment firm (a summer/college vacation job). There were some people I really wanted to invite and only a few that I didn't. I made the decision though to invite all of them except 2 people who started toward the end of my time there--since they didn't know me as well as the rest.
For my current job, it's a little bit of the same situation. All of the 1st year attorneys share offices and I didn't want to invite one officemate and not the other (could be awkward). Originally, I wasn't going to invite anyone but my own officemate but since our guest list could handle it, I decided to invite all of the 1st year attorneys since we're pretty close (about 13 people + dates).
