Original post by twein28

Hi ALL! We are getting married next May 2010...but I have the venue and rabbi booked and we are looking at bands right now. Is the year going to drag on if we have everything booked soon???

Nope, not long at all!! I was engaged Sept 2007 and am getting married oct 2010 (we waited so long so we could save money)...My engagement will be 3 years, 1 month and 3 days (but who's counting?!) I booked our hall about 2 years in advance and everything else is already booked, I acutally almost wasnt able to book a vendor bc they were already starting to book my date two years in advance!! I think a one year engagement is fine...

Very similar situation here! Engaged Dec '07 and my wedding date is Aug '10 (haha that looks funny...sorry)

I have everything but my cake booked! time flew by and there is so much to do. It also gives you more time to look around for deals, do more DIY projects, and get very unique ideas because you have time to sit down and think about what you really want.

Also, I believe a year of engagement is about average now, especially with the economy.

No.... so much to do always... lol.
Book your major vendors now. Make yourself a timeline and visit these boards everyday. You'll have plenty to discuss and keep busy about.

Good luck and Congrats!

We have booked a lot of things already and I have just over a year before the wedding. However, I have scheduled tons of things to do from now until then. We have our engagment party coming up in the next few months...

oh no. I have been engaged since Dec 7, 2008 and will be getting married on March 13, 2010. I did start any planning until January 2009 cuz I wanted to wait till after the holidays. When I booked my RH, they had so many dates booked after my wedding date, so it just goes to show that weddings are expensive and people need to SAVE in advance!!!

we had to wait 18 months because FH was deploying2 weeks after we got engaged. We weren't sure the exact dates he was coming home. He ended up cming home early but i'm kinda glad we planned it for july since my little side business is starting to pick up and it gives us more time to get the little details perfect
