FH is 6 hours away - and looks like that might be the case for our first year as marrieds if he gets asked to do his Ph.D.

I have a feeling that being a lonely fiancee is going to translate to being a lonely wife, at least at first.

But then the time apart makes us really appreciate our time together, so its not all bad!

Nope. Fh and I don't live together but we live next door to each other and see each other everyday. We take the LIRR to work together and usually come home together too
Then we eat dinner together and snuggle on the couch

You newlyweds and soon-to-be-weds have so much to learn My DH and I have so much togetherness sometimes I think, 'PLEASE, can I just be lonely for ONE hour!'

I was in this situation for a long time where he was practically smothering me when I walked in the door and chatted while I was on the way to the bathroom. He used to be home from work at 2 so he would be bored all afternoon and spent that time napping or waiting for me to come home. It was TOO much sometimes.

Now he works a 2nd job in the afternoon, comes home tired, struggles through dinner and goes to bed. So now we barely do anything during the week.

In a way it's good because I get the private time I was is such desperate need for. I also have more time to see friends or doing other things during the week without feeling like I am abandoning him since he doesn't GTG with the guys.

I feel like their should be a balance.

Sometimes unfortunatly with certain careers such as my husbands, there cant be a happy middle.
I'm not angry or bitter..I know this is just his job and he does it for us. I am grateful I live the lifestyle I do.
I do like my alone time.. though with a child and one on the way, there doesnt seem to be much of that either.
At least I can say,, when I need him for anything.. his family always comes before his job, no matter what..

I'm a lonely wife sometimes. DH has a crazy job which requires him to travel and work long hours. But it helps keep things fresh and new (after being together 9 years!) and gives us a chance to miss each other. There are times, like recently where he was home for about a week straight and it drove me crazy!

DH leaves about an hour before me and comes home later than me every night except when I have school at night. He also works most weekends. We have dinner together every night no matter how late, and we're so busy during the day that there's no time to miss each other.
