For those who are, are you getting married before a holiday? Or are you getting such a good deal that you are willing to risk that some people leave your party before it officially ends.
I ask because I am getting a good deal from the Swan Club for a Sunday in May, but I can't book May 30th, the Sunday before Memorial Day, coz my church is already booked.
I need some advice....
TIA

Re: Is anyone getting married....
I am and actually extending my party an hour so it will end at 12!
It is not a holiday and I think most people will take off the next day. I don't think to many people will leave.

We are getting married before the holiday but we are also having the afternoon wedding. I at first was concerned people would not come but if they want to be there they will.

Re: Is anyone getting married....
well we cant get married on friday (religious reasons) and saturday was crazy expensive for the places we actually liked so we settled for sunday night, with my extra hour it ends at 11:30 and its literally 15 min from the majority of my guests homes so i dont think that too too many will leave crazy early
everyone leaves early from wedding regardless of the day anyway, in the end those who are closest always stay till the music dies out

I agree with people leaving early - the people who are going to leave early will regardless when your wedding ends.
People don't even notice time at weddings and if you notice on invites it never gives an ending time

Re: Is anyone getting married....
I am getting married on 5/30/10 - the Sunday before Memorial Day. Not sure if it is cheaper at my RH - but that was pretty much the day that FH and I knew we wanted. We have a bunch of friends coming in from out of town (easy weekend for traveling w/o having to take off from work) and we also have 3 HS graduations, a college graduation, and a 1st Holy Communion to avoid that month/time of year in the family - and we figured NONE of that stuff would be scheduled on Memorial Day weekend. We originally wanted to get married in early May but couldnt because of all of that!

Re: Is anyone getting married....
Thanks everyone!!!
I wouldn't have a problem doing it on a Saturday day, but looking at the time the church ends and the Reception begins, I will have to rush to get to RH and our pics would have to take place during CH. Both FH and I want to enjoy our CH with our guests. Doing it on a Sunday night, well the church will end about 4 pm leaving us at least 2 and 1/2 hours to take pics at the church and then head to RH without being in a rush. The RH even told us we could come up to 1 & 1/2 hours before the reception to take all the pics we want that way we can enjoy the CH.

Wow Kerri, I didn't even realize you were having it on a Sunday......now all I have to do is decide which Sunday to do it on. Once I do that....FH and I will book the Swan Club. I just hope whatever date we pick...it is still open.

Re: Is anyone getting married....
I'm getting married in the PM on Sunday, but it's the Sunday of Labor Day weekend.
Most of our guests are probably off the following day, but even if they weren't it wouldn't affect my decision.

We are hoping to get married on the Sunday before Memorial Day, in the evening..we have to decide on a hall first. I don't think it will effect people leaving.

I am not getting married on a Sunday night but I know whenever I am invited to a Sunday wedding I stay for the entire thing, I feel like it is one night you have to stay up late and then go to work. To me it isn't a big deal. Those closest to you will stay the entire thing!

Re: Is anyone getting married....
My best friend is getting married on a Sunday evening NOT before a holiday. She didn't get any special pricing, it was just what worked for her.
JMHO - I don't mind a Sunday wedding if its b4 a holiday bc then I have the next day off. It does kind of stink if I have to work the next day, but it wouldn't prevent me from going. Of course I would rather a Friday night or Saturday.
being that most everyone is off that day i dont see why not. i cant imagine anyone really laeving early. i think you will be ok

Re: Is anyone getting married....
I can assure you that people wont leave early. I went to a wedding that was on a Sunday night in NH and everyone stayed till the end. I left a little early because I didnt know my way around and my GPS was retarded and I didnt feel like getting lost but we left maybe 30 mins before the end. And we took off from work the next day.
