I received some FM that were a little less than civilized....
REALLY? wow
I'm sorry you received nasty FMs, but from some of the comments on this thread it doesn't surprise me. Just know that most likely it comes from a lack of 'real' knowledge on the procedure and pros and cons.
I reccomend you check out the pregnancy and parenting board on LIfamilies where you might be better received by women who are currently pregnant or mothers and have done the research and made the decisions regarding circ.
I think a good portion of the women on this board are not quite at that stage of their life and therfor may not have put in the time to research topics such as these.
the question was simply 'is your DH snipped or unsnipped. So i think with a question like that all of us ladies can answer that one question that was asked of us. The OP didnt say 'can you give me medical articles, or anything like that' the topic at first stayed just on the one question that was asked, is your dh snipped or not. Most of us just answered that one question which that we have knowledge about.
As adults, I would hope that if anybody felt somebody didnt have all the facts that they would simply just inform them. What does sending nasty FM's have to do with anything. Just FM her saying, hey not sure how much research you have done but i have and here are some articles and info that will help you with your decision. I really dont understand why as adult women we have to just be nasty to somebody for asking a question.
I also think its a personal decision, i dont think anybody should be told they are wrong or right for whatever they do decide to pick.
Denise, you have a way w/ your words.. you go girl!!
lol thank you, i think it just shocks me as to why this would be so controversial

so what if somebody wants to circumcise their baby, and so what if somebody doesnt want to. We dont all have to make the same decisions in life. And the OP didnt say anything bad about it either, she didnt say anything negative about being snipped or vice versa. She said she was trying to decide and came on here to get more advice and just to see what others have done, plan on doing or any opinions they have regarding the matter.
And I doubt that not being snipped means you are more likely to get HIV or anything like that. BUT i do believe that you are more likely to get infections, inflammations. Here is a part from an article, that does say that most studies about not getting a UTI if youre snipped really shouldnt effect your decision bc this only really effects 1% of babies so wont make a difference, and even with STD's but it does say this. ANd having dealt with an uncircumcised person in the past i can say that it can happen. It all depends on how well they clean themselves
Penile problems, such as irritation, inflammation, and infection, are more common in uncircumcised males. It's easier to keep a circumcised penis clean, although uncircumcised boys can learn how to clean beneath the foreskin once the foreskin becomes retractable (usually some time before age 5).
is there risk, yes there is and here are the facts about it
Although circumcision appears to have some medical benefits, it also carries potential risks — as does any surgical procedure. These risks are small, but you should be aware of both the possible advantages and the problems before you make your decision. Complications of newborn circumcision are uncommon, occurring in between 0.2% to 3% of cases. Of these, the most frequent are minor bleeding and local infection, both of which can be easily treated by your doctor.
There is only opinions and theories when it comes to these matters. There are no facts to prove it as being wrong and not to do it but also no facts vice versa either.
Despite the possible benefits and risks, circumcision is neither essential nor detrimental to a boy's health. The AAP and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) do not endorse the procedure as a way to prevent any of the medical conditions mentioned previously. The AAP also does not find sufficient evidence to medically recommend circumcision or argue against it.
