Is it horrible that we only want to look at the Atlantica
Original post by denise2006
My fiancee and I just got engaged on Friday! We have been looking at places online all week. The only place we are both thrilled about is the Atlantica! We don't even want to look anywhere else! I think its great we both agree on the place already. I can't think of any other place except the Crescent (I want a beach wedding soooo bad!) The rate for a Saturday Day wedding is $120 a head which is great for us! Any other recommendations? We shouldnt have more than 115 people to invite.

I wouldn't book based on the websites. I HAD to be married off the water with beautiful water views. I looked at 5 places and The Riviera was the only one I had 'the feeling' with and I'll be honest - their website does not do it justice. So you may be missing out on so much by not visiting the halls.

I COMPLETELY, UNEQUIVOCALLY agree with charityhope. My fiance and I met with the GM, Jenn and Todd (her husband and a great chef) and we loved Jenn. BUT-you don't get much for $120.00, believe me. Once we realized this and factored in basic CH food (shrimp cocktail, a carving station), the price went WAY UP! And Jenn was trying to cut me a break and throw in extras since we really hit it off. MY FH and I were going to book it anyway UNTIL we saw Giorgios and fell in love with the gorgeous elegant room. Being avid ocean lovers and people who have been staying in Southampton every summer w/e for years, it was difficult to imagine having our reception anywhere other han Atlantica but I have to say, Giorgios was exactly what we were looking for (minus the ocean backdrop). Just remember, if it's a rainy day or if you are getting married in the summer or spring, it might not be worth it. You should check out Giorgios. They are very reasonable and wonderful to work with. Plus, they have a golf cart limo that takes the bridal party down the path (literally) to the L.I. sound beach- a perfect location for pics. Good luck!

check out gurneys too! if you were willing to go as far out as atlantica, then gurneys isn't that much farther, and they only require a guarantee of 125 for a saturday night....the basic package (ch/app/entree) is no where close to the same amount of food at alot of places, but the ambience really makes a difference: I don't know how many people want to eat eggplant rollatini in august on the beach....we did some up grades-raw bar, carving station, and we upgraded the entree choices to include 3 options not just 2... keep it in the back of your head in case you don't love atlantica

Re: Is it horrible that we only want to look at the Atlantica
I don't know if I can take reading these boards anymore. Every time i read something I freak myself out! I am now having nightmares I made the wrong choice. (Getting married on a Friday in November at Atlantica). I try to calm myself down when I think about how I FELT when I went there. Both of us fell in love with it. But.... we can only afford the BASIC package. I'm hoping to God that it all works out. I have to remember that it is our family and friends who are coming to the wedding. i shouldn't feel like I have to impress. And, honestly, I loved Atlantica even MORE when I saw it in person. OK. had to vent. thanks for listening.

Ok I feel like i need to defendwhat I feel is the most beautiful catering hall
I'm shocked that someone said it doesn't look nice in person...... I have gone to plently of weddings on long island and of course atlantica is the best.... I love the clarity of the room...... the white and blue decor...... Ii also had my ceremony there.... if you meet with jenn jacobs she can tell you how crazy it was..... Hurricane Ivan passed by to say hello during the ceremony. we had initially planned to have the ceremony in the sand if it rained would be in the tent. Well....... the rain was horizontal and the wind was so bad so it had to be held in the ballroom. IT was perfect! The staff handle what could have been a catastrophe very well. Saturday day is perfect ( i'm not biased ;>) If you think about how much food would you expect to eat at 12pm? At first we were going to add a carving station and ginny jacobs (todd's mom) had suggested a fruit/cheese platter since it's early in the day and the carving station is tooo heavy. Everyone said the food was amazing. I still wish I had gotten a chance to try all of our appetizers....... (by the way the cocktail shrimp was an enormous success!!) The reception was amazing!!! The cake was to die for..... i carried in tupperware to italy because i hated to see it go to waste. It was white frosting and chocolate cake with white chocolate mousse filling. i'm not sure if it's still the case but atlantica doesn't have a huge minimum ours was 100 people.... we had looked at land's end and crescent but the had high min so in the end the bottom line was higher. Also I love the south shore.... the atlantic ocean the waves the beach..... ok i'll stop rambling about it...... check out my pics.... www.fotoverdi.com under gloria and joe ( make sure pop-up blocker is not on) maybe later i'll tell you how amazing verdi is they also did my best friend's wedding 2 weeks ago!!!
good luck let me know if you have any questions gloria

Let me just tell you that FH and I felt the same way as you about Villa Lombardi's but we decided to look around just in case. Well 15 halls later we still chose Villa Lambardi's - one other hall came close, but after a showcase where we tried the food, we thought it was not very good and that really just reinforced what we knew from the beginning. I think that if you need piece of mind then check out a few places that provide you with that 'beach' wedding feel. But I can almost promise you if you and FH already feel that strongly about Atlantica, you are most likely going to end up booking them anyway! Good luck making your decision. Atlantica appears to be beautiful!

Denise--it's so funny you should say that because it's the EXACT reaction I had when I first got engaged: 'take me to Atlantica!!' We realized it wasn't workable for us though because we want a summer wedding and we have too many OOT guests but not enough hotel/B&B rooms to accomodate all of them. It's such a beautiful space though, it was hard to walk away

We only looked at one place. I wanted to have my wedding at the milleridge cottage since i was about 7 years old...and as soon as we both went looking at it together there were no other choices. I say go see it and if you love it...go for it!

Re: Is it horrible that we only want to look at the Atlantica
We got engaged on a Friday, looked at Atlantica and PJCC on Saturday and booked Atlantica on Sunday. There was no need to look anywhere else and everything turned out amazing. I cannot rave enough about them - and as far as food, we added a sushi station and it was MORE than enough. Atlantica is an elegant venue and having tons and tons of stations just wouldn't do. My family is Italian and no one was disapapointed - the passed apps were more than enough and DELICIOUS! FM me if you have any concerns.

I feel the exact same way as you do. When I saw Lombardis and tasted their food, I didn't need to look ANYWHERE. Villas is elegant and the food is top notch. FH and family are from Italy and lOVE to eat! Passed hors d'oervres wouldn't cut it at all.
