I'm sure everyone has something that bothers them in life....and for some people it's grammar and spelling.
Nothing wrong with that.

To some people spelling errors are like nails on a blackboard. Sometimes I'm one of those people.

I could use grammar help though!

true...and they gotta get over their crap too!

I don't think I really need to 'get over' the fact that I notice grammatical errors here and there...it's my job to notice these things and if I stopped, I'd probably get fired.

If your sentence includes a statement about a question rather than a direct question, you really should use a period not a question mark.

Like this:

Kelly, the difference is that you do it in the middle of a thread as a way to put someone down. However, this thread is just in general and does not target one specific person.

ETA, at least that has been my experience.

at your JOB...i would think so.
On a website...well if you are going to let grammatical errors and spelling mistakes bother you....damn you are going to be quite the disgruntled person since it is all over.

Well, I'm currently at my job, in the midst of grading finals, so grammar is kind of on my mind now.

And I wouldn't say it makes me disgruntled to notice the errors...it actually makes me giggle

i just notice these things and decided to join in on a thread about it

Why is it that every day, whenever I read posts, the word 'definitely' is ALWAYS spelled wrong, by more than 1 person?

I know I am being a PIA and a little anal too, but sheesh!

I spelled 'definitely' wrong every single time I wrote it until I was 19 years old and was corrected by someone at my first job. I was really upset about it too, because NONE of my teachers ever corrected me, and I'm the type of person who knows the difference between their, there and they're so I would have welcomed the correction!

Lately I've noticed a lot of people for get that words that end in -y become -ies when you want to make it plural. It drives me crazy, but I usually keep it to myself.

What people need to remember is that the word 'definitely' has the word 'FINITE' in it. That isn't very hard to remember.

Don't be sorry - I think you got a lot of information across in this thread!

Actually, on some messages boards ( I believe Television Without Pity is one of them, ) the moderators will actually delete things that are written improperly.

I always...and I do mean always click on the spell checker before submitting anything. But the word I always misspell is 'believe'.

ETA: I misspelled it....again!!
