Original post by antoinette

My friend ( who is married) still parties every night with her girlfriends and she asks me everytime to come with her.

Maybe becuase its cold or maybe becuase Im trying to quit smoking-but Im just not into it and I say nah. But she keeps asking me and I feel badly. But I feel like sooo done with the bar scene. Id rather hang out at home. with hubby

Well I am not going to say I am done with it I like goiong out to bars but I dont like crowded noisy bars anymore. Its sad now when we go out if a place is crowded and nosy we're like 'lets find someplace a little less crowdeed'. Years ago you never wanted to go to a place that was dead!!
But its no longer about whos there and who are you going to meet it s about having a few drinkis with friends and thast it!

But a litttle side note my FH and I met twice in a bar Once when iw as 18( thank God for sally'o'briens in sunnyside) and once when i was 21.

I'm so done with it too. My 'club' nights started when I was 17 or 18. Remember Chevy's in West Islip? Use to love that place. Then it shut down.
Switched to Malibu
Remember Carringtons?
Remember Planet Dublin?

These were all places out by me (except Malibu)-all pretty much something else now.

But the local bars (by me) Napper Tandy's, Molly Blooms and Horse and Jockey are ok, for just a happy hour. And I like to keep it just as that- happy 'HOUR'. But sometimes it's a work thing. I'd much rather stay home with my husband and daughter. And how badly does it $uck now when you get up with a hang over?

I feel guilty sometimes though, my little brother djs at one of the bars in my area, and I want to go visit him and see him play, but by the time he goes on, it's too late and I don't want to leave the house. And I would always say to him that it would be cool when he was old enough to go out, that we could all hang out together.

And not to mention the times I did go out b4 I realized the bar scene was not for me anymore. You get to see the pickins of guys that grace the scene now...eeewwww.. I would run home to my husband. Makes you REALLY realize how lucky you are. And the funny thing is, half of them don't even care that you are married. And that was a wake up call too- I'm married and I don't belong here! Granted, i know that's a bit extreme to say, but I remember feeling that one night before I retired as a bar hopper.

We had my friends bachaelorette(sp?) party last month, and I was tired by like 11:00 and we were in the City just finishing dinner. I could have went right home and went to sleep. I'm 29, should I be this tired? And not to mention I obvioulsy can't drink like I used to b/c I have a 2 year old that I'm sure does not want her child hood memories to be of mommy hovering over the toilet.

Ok- now that I rambled. Was nice to justify mysel...to myself!!!

Right now, I don't particulary enjoy going out because it's too cold. But in generally, I can't stay out too late anymore - anything past 11 pm is too late. I do go out still with my colleagues, but we go out about 3-4 pm. But I certainly can't do it more than once a week.

I like getting out every so often with my firends. I was only up until I got engaged that I stopped, and every so often I go with Fi...
I much prefer Ruby Tuesdays two'fers if I am really in the mood for a drink!

I'm like Sonia...I never drank so I was never in the scene.

I guess some people just grow out of the phase at different rates. I feel like I've been done for a long time!

I do have a friend who is the same age but at a very different place in her life and she parties all the time and gets annoyed when I say I don't want to go. It's only one of the reasons we have been growing apart. Maybe if we were in the same stages of our lives things would be different!
