go on our own after the wedding. We are having a day wedding so therefore, it will all be over by 6:30. FH's mom is having people at her house (out of towners) afterwards (she's not even thrilled about it either). We booked a cute honeymoon suite for us to go to afterwards and enjoy our first night together as husband and wife. I'm just afraid that FH would want to go and either hang out at mom's or w/his friends. I just think it would be nice for the two of us to be alone on our wedding night. What do you guys think? I'm I being a party pooper??

No I think 6 hours with guests is enough. You can always hang out the next day if they are around. The wedding night is for you! :) IMO

IMHO: I hope to continue the party after the reception, depending of course how tired we are. This happens only once (hopefully) in your life time and you want to have all the fun you can. You have the rest of your life to be alone. Plus since your receptions ends that early you can always spend some time with friends and family for an hour or so and then go back to the honeymoon suite. That's just my opinion, I can see your side too though. Maybe you can go back to the suite for a little alone time and then meet up with everyone later on. Either way, good luck.

You know us girls always win!! The next day we are leaving for Aruba
I too agree it should be just the two of us, but you know how men are. At least I feel better now and that I'm not being selfish.

Ours was over by 5:30 & we went back to the hotel. My MOH came there & took some pics of us there & then took my dress & his tux home with her. She returned his tux & took my dress to be cleaned & preserved. We had the rest of the evening to ourselves!!!!! Alot of my family went back to my mom's to continue partying & DH's family went back to my in-laws.

I vote alone, but if he insists on being with his family, then you should set a short timeframe to spend there.

Re: Is it rude to...
We went right to the Hotel. We were exhausted and were overwhelmed from the whole day. It was the best thing we could have done. We did not know what to do first, LOL besides the obvious.... aside from that we were tired, my feet hurt , and also hungry, we barely ate at our wedding! Be alone you deserve it!

My Fh would agree with you!!! We have a night wedding and I know our family and friends they are going to want to party afterwards. He wants to book a hotel room at an undisclosed location so no one can find us

See how you feel that day. You may be exhausted and want some privacy. You may want to be with everyone a little longer. It is your day so you are not being rude or selfish in whatever you choose.

I say alone...you can always go back out if you want to, but enjoy the moment by yourselves for a few!

Re: Is it rude to...
I know my FH and I plan to go to the bar where we met after the wedding with some family and friends for a nightcap. We are trying to book a hotel right near the bar so we can slip out after just a bit. But we'll see.

I don't think it is rude at all. If you want to be alone, then do it! It's your wedding night so enjoy it!
