Is it tacky??

Is it tacky??

Matt and I booked our honeymoon yesterday and the travel agent gave us cards for a HM registry...I told my mom and she thought it was tacky? What do you think?

I don't want to offend my guests.

no.. i've seen that done before where people can get you excursions you like versus something off your bridal registry for your bridal shower gift...

i wouldnt do it because i agree with your mom - but i dont know many people who HAVE NOT done that recently. so its your own preference, but in the long run- it could help out a HUGE deal!!!!! i wish i didnt feel the way i do!

I agree with your mom, too... though I wouldn't be offended if someone told me they registered for their honeymoon.

You'll get monetary gifts you can put toward your honeymoon. Personally, I wouldn't 'register' for my honeymoon, and I'd never send out cards saying that I did.

I disagree. Honeymoon registries have become quite popular and many guests actually find it easier than having to go out and try to find items off your registry in various stores. I dont think its tacky at all and its often a huge help towards your honeymoon.

Having a HM registry is not tacky.

However, mailing a card WITH your HM registry on it is poor etiquette. Registries should be word of mouth or on your wedding website, not mailed to guests.

You should have a wedding website and have your registries listed there.

I've seen it done too and many people like the idea especially if people have been living together and don't need many traditional registry items it's a good idea.

I agree to the HM registry not being tacky, but disagree on how to let people know about it. It is completely okay to let people know where you are registered in a shower invite. Wedding invites are a no-no, but showers are okay.

I dont think its TACKY... I recently went to a shower for my FH cousin and she made up a poem on her invite to tell people she wanted money toward her honeymoon. I understood, some thought it was tack y,BUT I feel if she had registered, and put the card in the invite it would have been acceptable. Im going to do it. Ive been living with my FH for 3 years we have EVERYTHING...... and dont really need anything ..I feel if your doing good with it and not asking for cash like the one I went to did..... Its not tacky... You can register somewhere else as well. Dont put alot on it so people have no choice to go to the second registry.

Ditto on this. Its not poor etiquette to let your guests know where your registered by cards--its been done that way for ages. Its WHERE you put the cards that determines whether or not its poor etiquette: its absolutely ok to put registry cards in the SHOWER invite. Its not okay to put them in the wedding invitation. Thats like blatantly telling your guests 'here--buy me this for my wedding'

Re: Is it tacky??

I have had a lot of friends and family get married over the past two years, and have found as far as HM registries go, generally they are a lot more acceptable to the younger generations, who see the sense in registering for something helpful that you are going to be paying for; while the older generations do find it 'tacky' to pay for your vacation.

I don't really know if it's considered tacky or not, I just personally wouldn't register for my honeymoon though.

We have friends who did this while they were living overseas (they got married in Scotland) and we thought it was the coolest to be able to give them a dinner or an excursion during their honeymoon..something memorable..not tacky at all!

Re: Is it tacky??

thanks ladies...I am very confused now

Fh and I do not live together, but had a rather large e=party last year and got many things off our registry. I thought that giving my guests (to the shower) the option of giving monetary gifts towards a HM was a cute idea. I may just tell people about it and not include the cards in my shower invites- although I do no think it is wrong to put such cards in a shower invite informing people where you are registered Thanks again ladies!

I don't think it's tacky. If people don't want to give a monetary gift, they'll give you a gift off ur registry.

Which Sandals?

What me & DH did, to start saving for our HM, was all the money from our engagement party we opened up a bank account strictly for the honeymoon. We had the 2 story villa honyemoon suite w/ private plunge pool and butler. so it was over $13,000 , so we had alot of saving . . .

If you want to do it, do it!
Just remember, with all Sandals, the complete sum is due exactly 2 months before the HM!
