I don't think its tacky at all. One of my favorite RD was at someone's home. We had a great time. Its not like you are not feeding them at all. There's nothing wrong with saving a little money if you can...Also, I'm assuming the people invited to your RD are really close to you, those people won't judge you no matter what you do because they're just going to be happy to share your day.
