Hey all! I need some advice...we got engaged in January of this year. Someone told me it's too late to have an engagement party, but I didn't think it really mattered. We were planning on doing something in September - nothing huge, just a backyard party.
Is there some sort of rule for things like this?

We got engaged Dec 30, 2010 and just had our engagement party June 25, and our wedding is set for April 13, 2012. So it was 6 months after actual proposal but still 10 months away from wedding.
I think as long as its not too close to wedding, its fine. The period between proposal and wedding is the engagement so what should it matter when during that time you have your party?

Technically E-Parties are usually planned 3-6months from your engagement and are a year or more away from your wedding date.
With that said, do what will make you happy & who cares what other people say/think!

Never too late. We got engaged last September and we didn't have an e-party this past May. It's all about when you can afford it and when you have time to fit it in. I don't think there should be a time frame on when it needs to be done by.

I definitely don't think that its too late. We are having our engagement party exactly one year from the proposal date. We were planning on having it sooner but then my mom was going through chemo so we decided to wait until she got healthy and stronger. Our engagement party is this August 20th and our wedding is July 27th. I think as long as it is spread out with some time between the party and the wedding, go ahead and plan!
