Is Oheka realllly that expensive??

as some of you girls may know, my RH search has been endless and frustrating...

we saw Oheka castle on platinum weddings last night...and I asked FH if we were to wait another year to get married, could we do it there...

FH said ok, yeah, sure! 2 minutes later.... he says, 'just kidding'

so do any of you know just how expensive it is??!!

someone told me there is a 10k site fee??!!

Re: Is Oheka realllly that expensive??

I was quoted 4000 site fee and 170pp you need to book on the date that they are tring to get rid of. we Went in the end of October 2009 looking for the fall of 2010.

Re: Is Oheka realllly that expensive??

The site fee varies and so will the pp. You really should go in and speak to any of the BM's that will meet with you. They can work things out if its within reason. We had a great experience and they were almost cutting the site fee in half when I went because of the date, our guarantee min...

So- What do you loose in trying!

Good Luck!

Re: Is Oheka realllly that expensive??

I think maybe it depends on the time of year. I wanted a summer wedding and Oheka was just out of budget for me.

There are other mansions that are used for weddings that are really beautiful. Try Lessings Waterfront Mansions.
Good Luck!

Re: Is Oheka realllly that expensive??

The site fee and pp cost does vary depending on both the season (peak vs off-peak) and the day of the week (Sat, Sun, Mon-Wed, Thur or Fri).

When my FH and I initially visited Oheka, we were handed a sheet with the following quotes below. Here's what I remembered:

*Sat - Peak: $320pp + $13,000 site fee
*Sun - Peak: $280pp + 10,000 site fee (I think?)
*Mon-Wed - Peak: $230pp + $8,000 site fee

However, we were told to let them know dates we were interested in, and received an email that evening on much lower rates. Both the site fee and pp cost are lower.

The rates aren't as bad as they seem, especially if you're willing to get married on a day other than Sat.

For example, July 4th happens to land on a Monday next year, and they charge Mon rates, not Sun rates, as I experienced with other RHs.

Additionally, their rate is really all-inclusive! They don't nickle and dime, and their rate includes the best cocktail hour stations, i.e. raw bar with oysters, caviar and vodka, etc.

Re: Is Oheka realllly that expensive??

I was watching that episode of platinum weddings too!!

On the episode i think they said the site fee was between $12-$14K. I know they had a lavish wedding; but when i calculated their total reception costs they mentioned for the 300 guests; it came out to around $350'ish per person I think their cocktail hour food was seperate-maybe because of the special items they brought in??
