Is there a nickname you hate to be called?

Original post by marymoon

This is for all of the Elizabeth's out there. if you're a Liz, do you hate being called Beth and vice versa, or do you rather hate it when people use your full name?

I used to hate being called Jenny (too girly) but then a boyfriend called me that and it stuck with some friends for awhile. I have nther nickname most people from HS call me, and that'll probably stick forever. I like being called my full name, but I also like ebing called Jenn, because I feel like it means the person considers me a friend or something..I know it's weird. Meanwhile my closest friends either call me my nickname or my full name. My real clsoe friends don't really call me 'jenn' and I HATE it when Fh does for some odd reason

My full name is Katherine, and everyone calls me Kate. Sometimes people who don't know me call me Kathy, and I really hate that. Why assume that I like to be called Kathy?

OMG that happens to me...my full name is Kathleen and people call me Kathy and it drives me NUTS ...I don't know why they assume that I would want to be called that..I mean its a nice name but its not MY NAME!

I can't stand when people who don't know me call me 'Lor' instead of Lori....is the 'i' all that much effort to get out?
I don't mind if people I know call me that though...

I am the same way and I only came to that realization recently when a woman I work with kept calling me 'Trace' which to me indicates a level of familarity that was not there. (Mainly because she annoyed me and I didn't like her)

I hate when people call my daughter Jules
Her name is Juliet not Jules
even Julie is fine but not Jules it really annoys me

oh and when people try and call my other daughter Kay
I always say dont answer because your name is Kayleigh not Kay

SO funny. I am Juliet and I LOVE being called Jules, but HATE being called Julie. I have always felt like Julie is a name and not my name, but Jules is a nickname. Then I found out it is a common Jewish man's name.

I also hate when people call me Julia or Julianna. I actually tell people my name is Juliet, like Romeo's girlfriend. Spelled the same way too.

My name is Tracy and my nickname that I called from everyone (friends and family) is 'Tre'. That I like because I have been called that since I was little.

But people that don't know me that well ALWAYS call me 'Trace' and I HATE that!!!

Same with me... I hate being called 'Trace' or 'Tray' by people I don't know that well. It's reserved for close friends only!!! (and I prefer Tray over Trace.)

My dad calls me by my middle name most of the time... I think that's kinda cool.
I hate being called 'Stacy'!! Especially when I was in high school because all the Stacy's I knew were B*tches!!!

I had to reply to this...

my name is Denise, which there really isn't many nicknames for, but people insist on calling me 'Dee' which I HATE....

I have to tell people not to call me that, I even had to tell a supervisor at work once because he referred to me like that to other people and I couldn't stand it.

Occasionally, I get 'neesie' which is much better.

I hate being called Trace by anyone, I guess because I am so used to being called Tre.

I always get called Stacey too, especially b/c Fh brother girlfriends name is Stacey and my FMIL always gets confused. and Fh hates his brothers gf so he always says to his mom - 'Her name is Tracy not Stacey'

So I'm Lucille - yes an old-fashioned stodgy name.....but I've come to love it! But why would anyone assume that calling me Lucy is acceptable? It's happened my whole life....I can distinctly remember first grade where Sister Trinita would call me Lucy, and I'd just sit there with tears rolling down my face . I'd remind her that that's my grandmother's name and not mine - but she didn't care (dam nuns! ).

Now, my family and friends call me LuLu - except FI, 'cause he says that reminds him of a big fat dirty lady!
