Is there a nickname you hate to be called?

Is there a nickname you hate to be called?

This is for all of the Elizabeth's out there. if you're a Liz, do you hate being called Beth and vice versa, or do you rather hate it when people use your full name?

I used to hate being called Jenny (too girly) but then a boyfriend called me that and it stuck with some friends for awhile. I have nther nickname most people from HS call me, and that'll probably stick forever. I like being called my full name, but I also like ebing called Jenn, because I feel like it means the person considers me a friend or something..I know it's weird. Meanwhile my closest friends either call me my nickname or my full name. My real clsoe friends don't really call me 'jenn' and I HATE it when Fh does for some odd reason

I don't have any nicknames that I hate, but I can't stand it when people assume that my name is spelled 'Anne'. There's no 'e', and thanks for asking!

I do hate the Elizabeth. My parents chose Elizabeth so I would have nickname options. I don't get Liz much (I'm a Beth).

My kindergarten teacher made me write my full name Elizabeth on everything. I hated that.

My full name is Katherine, and everyone calls me Kate. Sometimes people who don't know me call me Kathy, and I really hate that. Why assume that I like to be called Kathy?

I dislike Elizabeth for me so any variation irks, but I've come to terms with a few.

I always wanted to be Jaimie instead. I've decided I am going to name my daughter Katherine Ann and call her Kate, and my son William James. Greggggg wants to call him Willy but I think I'll use Will.

Yes...
See, my name is Debbie and is the same on my birth certificate so, people tend to think that Debbie is my nickname and refer to me as Debra or Deborah.

They also like to change my last name on me by adding vowels to it. I dont know why.
That will change once I take FH's last name.

I can't stand when people who don't know me call me 'Lor' instead of Lori....is the 'i' all that much effort to get out?
I don't mind if people I know call me that though...

And when I was younger, my grandfather and Uncle called me 'Gloria' because I would scream 'That's not my name' at them.....so they got a kick out of that....

My dad used to call me 'Louie' for the same reason

People, apparently, love to torture me.....

Re: Is there a nickname you hate to be called?

Oh you know what's annoying. Being a Jennifer born in the early 80's, I've always been in classes and work situations with other Jennifers. Well in my freshman sem in college there were 10 people in the class and 4 of us were names Jennifer (no joke) and we actually wasted 10 minutes of class time on the first day deciding who would be Jen, Jenn, Jenny and Jennifer or something as if that would help clear it up for the rest of the semester. I kept forgetting which one I was supposed to be. I asked to be called by my nickname, but that was also too confusing for people, so...

I love the name Elizabeth! But I don't see you as one.

I always forget that Beth & Liz are actually the same name! My grandma was an Elizabeth & went by Betty, but her sister called her Bessy or Bess.

You could also be a Betsy!

I also had a friend Elizabeth in HS, whose mother wouldn't give the phone to her if you asked for Liz!

By name has no nicknames, but I HATE when people shorten it to Heath. I ahte it so much that I amde people called me Heather Marie in Jr High.

Ooh, Beth I want to name my daughter Catherine Anne!!

I was supposed to be Emma, but I got stuck with Elizabeth which seems too proper and mature and together for me. Also, it means my siblings still call me Lizzy, which I hate!

it's funny you should say that. I knew a girl in college who told me her whole story about how she ahted being named Emma because she felt it was much too proper and that she had to live up to a proper image when really she was sort of tomboyish

Yes! That was my Scottish Grandma too.

She was Bessy & her sister Janet was Nettie. Their Aunt Janet was Jenny.

Crazy Scotts!

DH's Belgian Grandma's name is Emmy & until our wedding he thought it was short for Emily. It's not--- it's just Emmy.

And Lori, my Italian Grandma recently told me she was orginally Vertalina, but went by Lee in school & decided her full name would be Leonore & somehow got the DMV to agree!

And Emma DOES sounds more proper than Elizabeth.

My birth certificate says 'BETH' but people insist on calling me Elizabeth, or Liz. HELLO, that's NOT my name!
