Is this rude?

Is this rude?

My FH Uncle Vito is coming from Italy for our wedding and he asked FH if he can be the best man. FH already asked his HS best friend. Would it be rude to tell him he is being demoted to groomsman. FH and his Uncle are 7 years apart, even though he lives in Italy they have always been very close and visit each other often. There is always a 'cross in the road'..Very frustrating.

this, I would feel bad 'demoting' someone without them doing something to deserve it

FH has 2 best men and I have 2 MOH. but that's not to say that you need it to be even, I think you can do whatever you want.

You have inspired me, having both of them would be ideal because FH and I love both of those guys dearly

We didn't try to make it even, but it just worked out that way!

So either 2 BM, or even a groomsman? He can't really ask to do that I would think....

but i agree i would suggest having 2 best men then telling one he isnt anymore....

Its totally your wedding and you can have as many BMs or MOHs as you wants!!!
I have two sisters, and my FH has two brothers, there is no way we were gonna just pick one!

Sorry, but I think it's rude that his uncle asked to be best man.. I'm not too familiar with Italian customs, but who does that?? If your FH does want him to be best man, I think it would be rude to ask the guy that he actually picked to step down. I don't think it's unusual at all to have 2.

I have 2 MOH and FH has one best man. It doesn't have to be even- all that matters is that you represent everyone in a capacity that makes you both happy.

I see your point, however my FH feels guilt that he did not ask his Uncle first (it's an Italian thing) and he does not feel it was rude of Uncle Vito to ask, when 2 people are close that's how it is.
