Im picking places to look at based on price and not on what i love. It's no surprise, I am not excited to go to my appointments.
Any advice

I changed my time of year to get married because I fell in love with the place!
Find a place that you love and you can make it work. A lot of places will work with you and Negotiate with them!
Good Luck
i changed my time of year too bc it was more impt to me and my fiance that we had the place we loved rather than the month we love. Your budget will def allow you to get an awesome RH, esp since you said Fri nights are OK...what kind of RH are you looking for? what do you like?

you may be suprised how negotiable some of those places are...except for the worst deal in my opinion was deseversky, they didnt even include the cake in their package, there was a few thousand $ site fee and their cheapest package was like 145 or so...and they did not negotiate at all....lots of the other places the girls mentioned were very accomadating, I told my RH what i wanted that wasnt included on the menu and they gave us VERY good prices for the extras....if people see your willing to pay the extra 5 bucks a person means little to them. espically if you have a lot of guests which it sounds like you do! good luck, dont stress youll find something, i think we all felt the same way through our search!

i am getting married at cold spring country club. it is on the same property as oheka. they recently rennovated - everything is brand new, huge reception room with a huge dance floor.
they are working with me on the price (below 135) and they dont charge differently for any day of the week or month of the year... so i am doing a saturday in september.
not sure whether that is the type of place you are looking for but i recommend it!

Re: Isn't this suppose to be fun!?
I found a place I loved and picked an afternoon wedding instead of a night to make it work..
I wanted a winter wedding and it worked out that it's the off season anyway so that helped too.
I'm paying a little bit more than your budget but I did look at a bunch of other great places that were under your budget.
If you're looking for Suffolk try: East Wind Watermill Majestic Gardens

The Royalton is gorgeous and different and the food is amazing!! Check out the 09 boards for recent Royalton brides (allegracristina and Kerri . . . ). FH and I really liked Coindre Hall and Lessings was REALLY willing to work on the price. We really liked the 3 room set-up, and I recently went to a wedding with this set-up, but our problem with Coindre was that the dinner room overlooked a parking lot - this may have changed, so I would say its definitely worth a look!

Old Field Club is $141pp (thats including tax/gratuity) for a Friday or Sunday (day or night).
I definitely find it to be a 'different' venu than many other RHs on the island.
ITA! OFC is absolutely gorgeous! I have a bunch of pics in my album.

Re: Isn't this suppose to be fun!?
Because you are right in the middle of wedding season the prices are higher. If you pick an off-day between Oct-March the prices will drop dramatically. We originally wanted our anniversary date (4/22) but the price was to much. So our BM advised taht the closer we get to early march the cheaper it is. When comparing the diference between Sat 4/24 and Sat 3/20 was about $20 per person. Good luck and enjoy!!!!

How many people are you planning on having? I am a Woodlands bride... and will be having at least 200 people and a 10 person band. I am probably going to end up bringing in a dance floor (or somehow enlarging the current one) to accommodate the number of people. It is an extra expense, but definitely a do-able one. (I am not sure how much it is going to cost.)

Check out The Metropolitan in Glen Cove. It doesnt look like much from the outside, but inside is really nice. Sat night is doable for 130 with service charge and tax. Also they will let you do a food tasting BEFORE you book- there was not one thing I tasted that I didnt love.

for that budget, you do have a lot of options!
I wish FH and I could have afforded that price/pp... we would have booked my #1 hall in a heartbeat!

NEGOTIATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we were able to drop our price by $15/pp by taking a few things off of cocktail hour and removing one entree option (that they were going to upgrade for free).
They would rather book you now and be set for your date than try to hope someone else will come in.
Good luck!!
