It's Dress Time.....

So I am getting ready to start looking at Dresses. Here are the places that were recommended to me: Peggy Peters (Great Neck) Wedding Salon (Manhasset) Bridal Reflections (Carle Place) Any feedback or recommendations? I would like to try to go to places in Nassau Thanks, Ladies. Lauren

I got mine at Bridal Reflections in Carle Place, but I also really liked the people and atmosphere at the Wedding Salon in Manhasset....Bridal reflections just had a bigger selection, which was good for me since i had no clue what i wanted!!

If you wish to avoid hassles, stay away from Bridal Couture also in Manhasset.

I agree about Bridal Couture. They were extremely unfriendly when I went there last winter. Good luck.

Thanks ladies. I have heard similar things about Bridal Couture. I looked them up on line at the Better Business Bureau and they had 14 complaints in the last 3 years. I think I am going to stay away from them...

I went to Peggy Peters and did not have too much luck. The wedding salon of Manhasset had very nice dresses and the sales lady was very nice. I am going to bridal Reflections in Carle Place and kleinfelds in Brooklyn tomorrow so I will have more input after that. i also heard good things about Priscilla of Boston in roslyn Heights but never made it out there. Following is my experience with the salons you mention: Peggy Peters: They were very nice but the gowns they did not have a large variety of gowns, they had a decent number of gowns but they stuck to a limited line of styles. The gowns available to try on were not in good shape at all. Wedding Salon Manhasset: Wonderful- Beautiful gowns, great sales staff. They were one of two salons that made suggestions that were absolutely perfect. I would have gone with them except I found my dream gown at Bridal Reflections. Bridal Reflections: See Above same comments. I went for my fist fitting last week and couldn't be happier. We also purchased the bridesmaids gowns there. You might also want to try Macys in Manhasset. They have a large selection that you can look through on your own which is kind of nice when your getting started and want to try on a lot of styles. I started my search at Kleinfelds but was disappointed by my consultant. She didn`t offer any suggestions or comments. I needed this to start, because I really had no idea. Bridal Reflections in Carle Place was stop 2. The consultant was great - very motherly,knew what looked good and offered great choices. She figured out my taste quickly! I found my dress and bought it right there. Now I`m waiting for it to come in (s/b this month!) Good luck.

Can anyone recommend stores in Nassau that have a selection of sizes (besides David`s Bridal)? So far I was only referred to one. Thanks!

I got my dress at the Elegant Bride in Albertson. I pick up my dress Monday and have had no problems at all. They are extremely nice and helpful. You may want to check them out. Good Luck!

Funny story...

I am in my friend's bridal party, but because she lives far away, I couldn't go to order dresses, so I wanted to send her my measurements. I went into a drycleaner near my house to get measured, but unfortunately the man spoke hardly any English, and didn't know quite where to measure me (nor did I for that matter!). There was only one woman in the store and she said 'Sweetheart, would you like me to measure you, I know exactly what you need measured', and of course I let her! While she was doing it I asked 'oh, do you enjoy sewing' and she said 'No, I own Bridal Reflections in Carle Place'!!! She started asking me who the designer was and telling me the size I should order! She was the type of person who was willing to help a complete stranger in their time of need. You couldn't ask for a better person, and when I start looking for dresses, that will be the first place I go! Good luck to you!

I bought my dress at the Wedding Salon in Manhasset. They provide excellent customer service. Ask for Rosemary in particular. You might also want to try Priscilla's of Boston in Roslyn Heights. Theresa is so helpful. AVOID BRIDAL REFLECTIONS- THey made me wait 1/2 hour for an APPOINTMENT and saw other people who came in after I did. Awful service.

Bridal Reflections - Carle Place

I am so excited that other people have had good experiences there. I went there after shopping a few other places, and I loved my consultant - Kim. She was so helpful, and didn't wince once when I kept saying no and she'd go out and get more dresses for me to try on. She was so nice and helpful, and when I told her my style, everything she came in with was great. I went back a few times and never once had a problem with waiting or such. I ended up ordering my Diamond Bridal gown from there in May, and I anxiously await it to come in!! BTW, on other boards, I am 'May 11, 2002 Bride', so some of you may recognize me as that name...
