I'm not sure i like the idea of the plasmas on the wall either and agree that the drape thing is good way to remedy the situation .... Does anyone know when this is happening.... It'll probably be before i get married so guess imma have a lil talk with my BM lol...... thanks for the info

Re: JERICHO TERRACE BRIDES
I just got off the phone w/my BM @ JT. He said that outside vendors are not allowed to use the Plasmas. He also said that if the Plasmas are not being used, then they cover them and they will not be visible to the guest, b/c they cover them electronically so they are hidden. But it ***** that out side vendors are not allowed to use them, b/c my DJ is charging me $900 for two 52' plasmas. I haven't booked the plasmas yet, b/c I playing around w/other wedding cost.

This is news to me cause the general manager said nothing about house vendors only being allowed to use the plasmas. I am not intereseted in using a house vendor just so I can use the TV's in the room I am paying for and so JT can get there commission check! I'm gonna have an interesting conversation next week when I drop off my monthly check.

Re: JERICHO TERRACE BRIDES
We are having our reception at the Oak Rom on 8/23. Saw the plasmas the other night at the showcase and it looks nice though it is not completely finished yet. As for the people count, we are inviting about 130 and hope that only 110 at most show up. Rob says that the room can hold something like 150, if not more. Maybe it can be done, but it would be very tight. We hope to only have between 100 and 110 so that the room is not overbooked.

Re: JERICHO TERRACE BRIDES
There is no need for concern and there is no need to drape the tvs because of the way that JT put the plasmas in there. The Oak Room has a band stand (or a band shell) carved into the back wall located immediately to the right of you when you walk through the doors. The two outside walls of the band shell had portions of the wall cut out and the tvs were inserted into the halls in the walls. The walls were then re-inserted so when the tvs are not in use, it looks just like the walls did prior to the tvs being put in. Presently the walls open manually but when all is said and done the walls should open automatically or by remote or something mechanical to reveal the tvs hidden behind them. Again, when not in use, the walls look just like they did before and the ambiance of the room is not interrupted at all. As far as only house vendors being allowed to use the tvs, that is unfortunately a common practice used by many RHs, not JT. We are using Starlight Express, a house vendor, but it is def. a pain when you are using an outside vendor.

Re: JERICHO TERRACE BRIDES
They don't do food tastings formally. There will be a showcase in January or February where they will have all of their food.

Re: JERICHO TERRACE BRIDES
I was told by the Wedding Coordinator there.. that they do food tastings once you book there.. the bridal showcases only have a small selection of cocktail hour food

Re: JERICHO TERRACE BRIDES
They won't do full tastings. General manager that I have been working with said they can do something informally with just a few things and that ONLY the showcase in January (or maybe it was Feb. - can't remember) will have all of their food so we can get a tasting. The other showcases have only small apps like cheese and crackers, fruit, clams, and antipasta - very limited. You can try but I asked about a month ago about a private tasting and they wouldn't do what I would consider a tasting where I would get to try a lot of their food.

Re: JERICHO TERRACE BRIDES
Yea, I just really dont think its fair that with all of the money we are paying- we cant get a food tasting privately..... that makes me mad I know people who have gotten married at cheaper places and have had food tasting in private I dont think I should have to wait on long lines with many people there just to taste the food that is going to be at my wedding... sorry lol but this gets me heated lol

Re: JERICHO TERRACE BRIDES
Me neither! I completely agree with you about this. My FH asked me if this particular showcase will be for exclusively JT brides and once it gets closer to the date like December, I am going to call and find out. I wouldn't care so much if this showcase was for JT brides because then I would feel a little bit more special but if its open to anyone then that's annoying because there could be so many people there.

Did anyone book a hotel for OOT guests? I was hoping to find one that had a shuttle service, but we'll see. Thanks!

I agree about not getting a food tasting, but the person who booked me said that they could 'arrange' something, so definitely ask again!

I think they said something about one of the Hiltons in Garden City, I forgot the name but JT told me that they can arrange vouchers for your guests to take a taxi for free. I still have to book hotels too.

Re: JERICHO TERRACE BRIDES
Thats really interesting, because I had asked about a tasting too and the answer that I recieved was 'we usually don't do that' and then my BM asked me if I had been watching Platinum Weddings and proceded to tell me that I couldn't hang people from the ceiling.....I thought that was quite an answer for a simple question. I didn't think asking for a tasting was so out of the norm.

Re: JERICHO TERRACE BRIDES
I don't see why you girls can't have a food tasting....
I booked JT back in January and my dad wouldn't sign any papers without a food tasting.
When I asked my bridal manager to set it up it wasn't a problem at at... we did it on a Friday afternoon and we had 6 people there (me, fh, my parents, my sister and fh's father)
we were each given alcoholic drinks, a huge appetizer plate, pasta, a main course, and dessert (which was soooo delicious!!!) we were sooo stuffed afterwoods!
so i would ask again... b/c my dad wouldn't of booked the place without tasting the food first (the food was awesome btw!!!!!)
edit: spelling

Re: JERICHO TERRACE BRIDES
when I first went to look at the place, before we booked our bm brought in a bunch of food while we were in his office talking. Not main entree stuff but he brought in trays of stuff at CH to eat while we were there. I had been to several events at JT so already knew what the food tasted so never asked for a tasting, so not sure what they say about it or what they do. Most girls i know didn't have a food tasting there.
If its something that you really are concerned about then talk to your bm about it.
