Re: Jewish Brides

Question on the organization ...

Instead of having our own board or continuing to use this thread ... can we just begin individual threads when we have questions specific to Jewish Brides ...

Like a subject called 'Jewish Brides - Ketubahs' or 'Jewish Brides - Yarmulkes' or 'Jewish Brides - officiants' or 'Jewish Brides - Jewish Geography' or whatever it is. True, we'd lose the 'thread' and continuity of this post, but it would be SO much easier to follow and search. Thoughts?

Re: Jewish Brides

Of course we can - and often do.

This thread just pops back up now and then.

Edited to reduce redundancy.

Re: Jewish Brides

Hey,
I love this thread. I'm just starting the process, recently engaged, and I just want to brace myself as to what the price differences are in glatt kosher receptions and kosher style receptions....per person, is there a huge difference. I'm looking at Carlye on the Green, and a bunch of others, any of you have any good suggestions as where there is good glatt kosher catering (halls I mean)

Thanks!

Hi Pickles!

I'm getting married with Glatt Kosher catering at the Huntington Townhouse. I'll let you know how it is after May 30th.

Re: Jewish Brides

We got our yarmulkes from www.yarmulkes.com too. They messed up the order but they have been great about redoing it. Now I am just waiting to get the replacement order. We ordered black suede with silver writing inside. We put our first & last name and our wedding date. I think putting the last name is nice since it is our new last name together.

Pickles- you will have to find out if the venues you are interested in have on site glatt kosher catering available- most don't (except for synagogues) so you end up paying a fee for the place plus for an outside kosher caterer- it ends up being very expensive. There are a bunch of places that have exclusive contracts with kosher caterers so it may work out that way but you'll have to ask. Kosher style is much less expensive- any caterer can do it really. We are having a glatt kosher wedding but it's at a synagogue. Good luck!

how many do you have and what do you want to spend...I got my BM's different things, although the same theme

For 4 of my BM's I got them the coach key chaing that has like a card holder attached- I think it was like $40 each, and then I am putting in it a gift card in it for $15, to barnes and nobles (all are big readers)

For 2 of my other BM's (My SIL and FSIL) I got them a Tiffany's keychain, and then a gift certificate for a mani/pedi at their favorite spa/salon

For my MOH, I got her the Tiffany Key Chain, giving her a $50 gift card to sephora and I am paying for her make up to be done the day of...which is in 3 DAYS.....I CAN'T Believe it...
I see you are another EMJC bride.....congrats....

Hope this helps...

Also I have friends who did spa gifts, picture frames, it all depends on your budget!

Good luck!!

Re: Jewish Brides

Thanks for the advice, I've narrowed a list down of halls that have kosher catering as well as obviously jewish centers...I was just wondering If anyone knew the price differences between a kosher style wedding and a purely kosher wedding, are we talking 50 a head more, or less...I have no clue

Re: Jewish Brides

Again- I think it matters where you have it. Synagogues tend to be less expensive than non-synagogues and they give you a ton more for your money!

I agree! But then you have to pay the chapel fee (which averages around $400). Its also very nice to be married in a synagogue IMO.

Re: Jewish Brides

Have any of you girls looked at Floral Terrace, I've been reading many posts about it on the other board, but I don't think any of them are jewish, so I wanted to know if any of you have been or are having a kosher or kosher style wedding there. I've never been, want to know if its very kitchy or not...

Thanks!

Yes, first and last. I'm just hypenating my name, so I just used our whole names.

I wouldn't do Mr. and Mrs. - I would do Darly and GroomFirst Groomslastname if you're gonna do that.
