Re: Jewish Brides
We are using Steven Scott's band Jumpstreet.they are awesome.. We were literally rocking out in the conf room listening to their CD. Plus our friend's have seem them at weddings and had nothing but good things to say.
The only requirement for us- is the hora.. not sure if you need something more special for your wedding.

Re: Jewish Brides
We used Scott Evans music and entertainment. Scott Denman is the owner of the company, and he did my Bat Mitzvah, my sister's wedding, and my wedding - all at Jewish Centers. He is primarily a Jewish wedding band - he does a great hora, and if you want other Jewish music, i'm sure he could do it too. His number is 516-594-1103. If you have any questions, feel free to FM me. If you contact him, tell him Jackie Levy told you to! He knows my family well at this point.

Oh, also as I mentioned we may have a few meals brought in, but I don't know fomr where yet. Since the food will be hot, it must be served on kosher plates, so they'll probably eat from whatever container and utensils are provided with the take out. Drink, theoretically should be ok since they are cold and being served in cold, clean, vessels. However, I'd provide bottled water in case. the place you get it fomr should be able to help you out with that.
Also, if these people are really kosher and rorthodox, they may not even come to your wedding. FH has orthodox cousins and they won't attend any party, even if kosher food is brought in, if it's not a kosher place, among other reasons, because seeing them go in there gives a message that the palce is kosher, or something? So I'd check! Good luck! Let us know what you find out
My family is comin'! They bring their own plates, silverware & glasses.
We are using East Coast Band! Love them! East Coast Band

We are using Ken James (Bruce Saunder's band). They are located in Great Neck. They come highly recommended and are great for a synagogue wedding!

We are using the Peter Damiens bad. We loved them!We are also substituting one of the singers with an Israeli singer who sings Jewish songs, that was perfect for us.

Honestly, the people on Long Island do so many weddings of all different cultures (especially Jewish ones) that any good photographer can handle the ins and outs of a Jewish Ceremony.

Re: Jewish Brides
Hi Jewish Brides,I'm really glad we have this thread as well.
Pickles- you're from Oceanside, right? How are you?? It's Amanda M, my pic. is on my profile.
In terms of the bands- we are having Grammercy Park from Steven Scott and I agree, the Steven Scott bands and probably most bands are familiar with the Jewish customs and songs.
Are those of you that are having your weddings at temples getting the kippot as part of your package? One of the temples was going to give us the kippot for free.

At the temple we're getting married at, there is a fee, whether or not you use their rabbi, cantor, etc. I guess it is a fee to use the sanctuary. That's great that you don't have a fee to pay.
Actually, all the Temples we went to we found that to be true. We have to pay a Mashgiach fee as well as a fee for the Temple's Rabbi, Cantor and organist (to accompany the cantor). I am still using my own Rabbi so in essence I am paying 2 fees. I still wanted my Rabbi to marry us even though it will cost us a little more. I hate when I go to a wedding and the person officiating the wedding has to read the names of the bride and groom off of a piece of paper because he doesn't know either of them. I wanted it to be more special than that.
ETA: It is actually not a sanctuary fee, it is a Mashgiach (sp) fee. Oops!

Our Shul provides kippot, napkins, place cards and the towels for the rest rooms.
The contract was originally for the satin kippot but we negotiated to include the suede ones.
