Re: Jewish Brides
Definately check with the Rabbi that is marrying you. I wanted one Ketubah, but the Cantor that was marrying us did not allow us to get that one. Needless to say, I found a new Rabbi.

Re: Jewish Brides
What a great thread. My mom is catholic and my dad is jewish. I was raised catholic, but I also learned and do a lot of the jewish traditions.
We are getting married in church (my FI is catholic) and at the reception I want my dad to do the blessing (it would have been my grandfather but he is not with us, so I want my father to do it)
It means so much to me to combine both religions and their traditions in our day.
Unfortantly when we picked our date, I didnt realize it was in the middle of rosh hashanah and yom kippur so my dad's godparents will not be attending the wedding.
(which is a story on its own, b/c it really upset my dad and my uncle that they wont be attending)What a great thread

Re: Jewish Brides
For interfaith rabbis and familes, go to:www.interfaithfamily.com
There's a link to a national list of rabbis who perform interfaith weddings. The list is $30 to support the efforts of the group that puts it out. I bought it but didn't end up using it because I'm converting.
It's also a great resource for people trying to raise an interfaith family - even for converts it's a good resource.
Ketubahs can have different language based on your denomination. Check with the place you're buying it from as to what's available.
Here's our Ketubah:

Re: Jewish Brides
we are interfaith as well and the cantor that is marrying us has to approve the ketubah before hand. usually the rabbi or cantor will give the guidelines for the ketubah that would make it i guess legal in the jewish religeon

I am (most likely) getting married in 9 of 2004 at with my high school friend (who I met in Jewish Youth Group) marrying us - she is a wonderful Rabbi, which makes the ceremony even better!!

Re: Jewish Brides
Welcome! When you want to find this thread, just click on the 'search' button above and search for 'jewish brides'. You'll get a list of matches, but they are almost all replies on this thread. As long as your click on one of them where the topic is 'Jewish Brides', you'll get here.Where are you getting married? Which youth group were you in? I'm a former USYer.
That's wonderful that you're making your chuppah yourself - I'm not that talented or creative! You'll have to post a pic of it when you're done. Good luck with all your planning and feel free to ask any questions - all the girls on here are so helpful.

Re: Jewish Brides
I'm 24. I was involved in USY regionally from 94-97. I'm from Staten Island, but had a lot of USY friends from encampment on LI. My FI was actually not a USYer - he's from Wantagh though. When were you involved in USY?

Re: Jewish Brides
Nope, no older brothers. He has an older sister, who is your age. She wasn't involved with USY either, I don't think (ironic, b/c his uncle was USCJ international president for awhile). People are always telling him that he looks like someone they know. Usually it's one of the guys from the TV show Kids in the Hall!I'm heading out to LI shortly and actually going out to dinner with one of my USY friends that I met at my first encampment in 94
