Re: Jewish Brides
Did you look at other places besides Yussels? If so, how was their selection compared to other places. We looked there a couple of weeks ago and found two that we really liked.

Re: Jewish Brides
Yay, another EMJC bride! It depends on your Rabbi. I'm not using Rabbi Androphy at EMJC, I'm using my own Rabbi and he said it was okay for me just to use my veil to cover my shoulders.

Re: Jewish Brides
rabbi androphy won't be able to be the officiant at my wedding so he is having someone else do it, I guess I'll have to ask him when we meet.

Re: Jewish Brides
I am another USY alumni 1989-1993 (I feel so old). I did encampment, wheels and Pilgrimage.I am getting married at OJC. I saw a wedding video from there and the bride was wearing a strapless dress (actually the same dress that I am getting). It depends on the rabbi. My sister got married at HERJC adn she wore her veil to cover her shoulders.

Re: Jewish Brides
Jackie, we went to Zion Lion and personaly I liked yussel's choices better. I live in Brooklyn and we went to afew places here but they basically only had orthodox ones.

Re: Jewish Brides
Thanks Andrea. My Rabbi actually wants us to use a Ketubah with Orthodox text. We're conservative, but he is definitely more on the Orthodox side. I'm not thrilled, b/c I like a more egalitarian text, but I have known this Rabbi my entire life - he did my baby naming, Bat Mitzvah, etc, so I'll deal. I live in Staten Island, so there is NO where to get them here! We will probably order from Yussels - it's near FH's home.

Re: Jewish Brides
Ok, gotcha. There are several stores in Brooklyn tht will definitely have Ketubahs with the Orthodox text if you want to go there. One store is called Eichler's. If you want more info I can get it to you.

Thanks - I know where Eichler's is, both in the city and at Brooklyn - I love that store (well, judaica stores in general). I'm going to check it out at some point.

There is one more in the five towns, Cedarhurst we went to. He had some nice stuff too. Don't remember exact name but it is on Central Avenue.

Re: Jewish Brides
We picked up our finished kettubah tonite from the scribe who did the Hebrew text. She did a wonderful job. I am so excited.
