Jewish Brides: What's the kiddish cup?

I am having an interfaith ceremony. Is the kiddish cup necessary? What is it?

A kiddish cup is the cup you drink the wine from when making the blessing over the wine, which is called the kiddish. However, you can use a regular wine goblet - you don't need a special kiddish cup.

Kiddush is done at every holiday, celebration and to start the sabbath. It is said to contain the fruit of the vine. I was at an interfaith ceremony last week, they did the kiddush and the stomping of the glass.

We had an interfaith ceremony 2 weeks ago, and we did the Kiddush using a Kiddush cup my grandmother bought for us, peopel usually get them as bar or bat mitzvah gifts, but being that I dropped out of Hebrew School, I never got one...oh well!
