Jewish girls or interfaith girls....I need your help!!!!!!

Original post by missliss

I need to order yarmulkes ASAP, like yesterday. We're having an interfaith wedding so I don't expect everyone to wear them obviously...but I want to provide the option.

My question is, I haven't even been around them in so long....which ones do people wear nowadways...the small suede ones or the satin ones??? I like the satin ones cause I think they're pretty but is that like, super old-school??? What are you girls getting or did you get? Also, I was going to order them in off-white, is that ok? That or black?

Help!!!

My FH will wear the black one, he is not very religious and doesnt want it to show that much, he feels that the black suede will blend in alot better.

we did black suede and my DH wore the same as everyone else.

Fantastic. Thank you. I think my mom is making things up.

Maybe its something that SHE wants?

No, I think she really is just making it up. She has a habit of saying she 'heard' that you're supposed to do certain things when really she just makes it up out of the clear blue.

That is hilarious, my mom does that ALL THE TIME! And she speaks with such authority. Will we do that when we are moms?

Glad that we all helped you make up your mind on the kippahs.. I bought FH a new one (white satin with silver trim to match the talis that I bought him) but he's wearing the same white one as the rest of the guys in the bridal party.

Definitely suede!!

Go to a local judaica store and see how long it will take. If you dont want them personalized you can buy them right there.

Happen to know if there's any in Queens???? I'm in Astoria...

Hi!

I second Gift World. It's on Main Street in Flushing, not too far from Queens College. I haven't been in there in a few years, but I'm probably going to check them out when I start collecting things for our ceremony.

Also in Queens, I'd recommend checking out stores in Forest Hills and Rego Park, as these neighborhoods have a larger Jewish population, hence more Judaica stores.

And if you don't mind traveling a bit further, there are a bunch of Judaica stores in Cedarhurst and the Five Towns. I haven't been to them in years, though, so I don't have store names for you.

There's also a Judaica catalog called The Source for Everything Jewish . If you'd rather order them this way, check out this link:
