Just curious - Did your FH...

Ask you father / mother / parents for your hand in marriage before he proposed?

Yes, my DH called my father and asked for his permission and he told my father how much he loved me and couldn't live without me. I heard it all from both mouths, so I know it was true!

Yes, the night before. him and my dad went out for dinner and both got absolutely wasted. Nice, huh? I guess they were both nervous. They were both seriously in the dog house too!

Nope, my fh tried but my dad wasn't home before we left to go away. I'm glad he didn't its considered bad luck in my family. The only one that asked permission was my sister first fiance. That engagement never made it to the wedding. It was doomed from the start.

YUP!!! and bc of my fathers reaction.....he knew he had to do it that night otherwise my whole family would have known!!!!

He asked me later that night when we got home!!!!

Nope, we live in a different state from my parents so I gave him the out since I know he doesn't like to talk to them on the phone and I didn't think it would be a huge deal to my dad....but when I told my mom that my friend's FH asked her dad my mom made a point tell me how my dad is still waiting for my DH to ask....oops...

yup. he mostly just wanted to say 'Hey, I want to marry your daughter, and i felt like we should talk about it and get your blessing'

it was really important to me that he do that---cause my parents are old-fashioned, especially my dad!

Yup. He asked about a month before he proposed. Both my parents wanted him to wait until the summer so that I wouldn't lose focus on school, but he couldn't wait so he did it a month later.

He didn't ask my dad bc he had never met him and we're not that close. Instead he actually asked my mom and my grandparents, which I thought was very sweet. He would have done it regardless but I think he felt better about it having their blessing.

My mom is deceased and my dad is , so my DH asked the closest thing to a mom I got -- My sister

He even brought her along to make sure my e-ring was up to par

ETA: I think he more along the lines told my sister his plans than asked her.

Yup! He asked my parents while I was outside waiting for him to go to the bathroom. He lied and said he 'really had to go!' then eh went in, never went to the bathroom and asked them. A week later him and my mom went to get the ring set and he gave it to me the next day!

Yes, he went over to ask my dad while I was out with my mom. Then MY dad told my mom.

yep, he got the ring x-mas eve, asked my parents the day after x-mas then waited till april 9th to ask me.....my parents said he was sweating bullets...they must have had an hour talk with him they said.....

unfortunately at the time I was not on speaking terms with stepfather or father... but since my brother set us up (and had more say on who i was aloud to date) my FH asked my brother! now that I am on great terms with my dad and stepmom (I formally asked my dad to walk me down the isle) but my FH might have a talk with my dad before we get married since they have been able to get to know each other!
