I recentely got Engaged. I am so happy I have been waiting for a long time for this so I want everything to be perfect. We are going to have a fairly long engagement so we can go all out. I am the first of any of my friends to get engaged so I am not sure what are some things I can do. Such as, pictures or a party. I am pretty new to this so I want to do everything perfectly. What are some of the things you ladies did when you first got engaged?

I had a long engagement, too. Congratulations! The first thing I did was pick a reception hall. Start looking!

we sent out announcements and then planned an engagement party for our closest friends and family...congrats!!!!

Congratulations! I also have had a long engagement (over two years by the time we get married) and the planning has been much nicer this way. First thing I did (after telling friends and family) was to get a wedding planner and some wedding magazines - the planner so I could get a sense of what I should be doing when and the magazines so I could get ideas on dresses, flowers, etc. But honestly, with over two years to go, relax and enjoy your engagement for a little while before going planning-crazy!

CONGRATULATIONS! Now it's time to start the fun First thing, Pick out a reception hall and set a date! That was the hardest thing to do, because the dates get taken soooooooo fast! Then you can start planning for and e-party! GOOD LUCK!

I agree enjoy the bliss of engagement. Then post an announcement in the local paper. Think of the time of year you want to marry - then a theme will come to you based on that.

The first thing I did was to pick the reception hall, becasue we weren't set on a specific date.
Then after that I did my Photographer and my dress, but I chose a day 10 months out.
