my tips are just to spend some time enjoying it without planning yet. i took one month before i started planning and i just wish i could go back to the peacefull, loving, blissful period of my life.

My one piece of advice is to do your best not to let the planning take over your life. Make sure you don't spend all of your time with FH just talking about wedding stuff. Enjoy being engaged! I took about one month to just bask in the whole 'being engaged' thing before I started planning, and now FH and I declare 'non-wedding' days so that we don't become overwhelmed.

Congrats I would say try to figure out a date that you guys want and starting booking. It's amazing how fast things book up. But don't stress over things, give yourself enough time to be be able to do everything that you want

I agree completely, you have no idea how much things cost until you start planning your own wedding..... it is very frustrating!!!!

Congratulations!! My tip to you would be to take things slowly, don't let people rush you into doing anything. Do things at your own pace, and enjoy the first few weeks of your engagement before you do any wedding planning!

My advice is to look at a TON of reception sites before you book, and don't be afraid to try and negotiate. My biggest mistake was booking one of the first places I saw, and I didn't even attempt to negotiate.
Even though I'm pretty happy with my choice, I've seen some other places I would have really liked. I've also found out that I probably could've haggled with them a little more for extras or a lower price. It can never hurt to negotiate!!!!!
Also, think long and hard about your guest list BEFORE you start looking. We forgot so many people and now we're stuck cutting people b/c we can't get out of our contract and our hall can't hold enough people
Most of all, enjoy this time...and DON'T let the little things stress you out!!

prepare to become addicted to this site. I use it everyday...at least 2x a day. (i might be lying alittle to save face..probably 20x a day)

Welcome to the 06 Board. You will find this site one of your most useful tool. Everyone is extremely helpful and nice. I like the tip on saving alot of money. So true! It's like you can never have enough. Enjoy planning and do things one at a time. Try not to stress because I have found that wedding planning is very overwhelming. Happy Planning!!!!
