just made an appt at kleinfeld's...THANKS for all the feeback!!!!!
Original post by alexlynn7
can you believe that they charge you $50 if you don't cancel an appointment 48 HOURS in advance???? i found that to be a little ridiculous. and the woman on the phone had an attitude - it wasn't anything she said really, just her tone.
did anyone get their gowns in nyc at a place other than kleinfeld's?
can anyone share their experience with kleinfeld's?
thanks!!

We got the BM dresses there for my brother's wedding a few years back. It was torture from start to finish. Everyone acted like they were above you and their prices were rediculous. It cost me a small fortune to get the dress, a shawl and alterations. It was a few years ago but I think it was close to the $500 range. I know not all their dresses cost this much but it was just generally a bad experience.

Valentina's is also very good
I agree 100%. I got my gown and my BMs dresses there. I got free alternations, free veil and a free headpiece. My BMs got 10% off the ticket price of their dress and free alternations.

I went there because everyone says you should go there and have the 'Kleinfeld experience'. Well I did and I didn't have a good experience.
I kept telling the sales girl the gowns I wanted to try on and she kept brining ones that weren't my description. And there was one gowns that I wanted to try on, that I saw in a magazine and tried on at Bridal Reflections. I showed her the gown and she said we don't have that.
I go out to the main area with mirrors with a gown on and I see a Bride-2-B with the glown I wanted to try on. I told the sales girl I wanted to try that gown on (that's the one from the picture) and you told me you don't have it. She went to get that dress after the other Bride-2-B was finshed, but she was buying it and my sales lady came back and you told me you didn't want something off the sale rack and that one is. I said the gown just came out in magazines and its on the sale rack?
Any way, I bought my gown at Bridal Reflections in Carle Place and I had a wonderful sales person.

I went to RK Bridal. The dressing room lady who welped me was so patient and nice. But make sure you go on a weekday. They are a madhouse on weekends.
I also got a bad attitude when I called to make my appointment at Kleinfeld's. I used to work in that area and know that many people haven't had negative and positive experiences there.

I've LOVED my experience with Kleinfelds. The only snottness that I have ever noticed were from the cleints. The sales people, seamstresses, and the receptionist have all been so wonderful to me. I thought the deposit was a little wierd too. But If you don't cancel your appoint, then you don't have to worry. Just try it out.

Any place you go, someone is going to have a GREAT experience and someone is going to have a HORRIBLE experience. It's people dealing with people ... you just need to TRUST the people you are dealing with and the reputation of the company to stand up and give you proper service. Just because one person is snotty doesn't mean everyone else who works there is nor that you won't get the most unbelievable service, perfect fitting, etc ... So trust yourself. If you don't want to take a chance and go there then find somewhere else. There are TONS of bridal places for you to go to so it's not you HAVE to go there.
Good luck

my sister bought her wedding gown there... at first I said I wouldn't travel all they way to Brooklyn for mine but my parents are making me!
The service was wonderful, we were especially impressed with the service at the fittings! Trust me, they are the best.
Just know that the first question they ask you is how much are you willing the spend.
Good Luck!

Then cancell the appointment or go and try on every dress they have knowing that you won't buy the dress there.

I used RK Bridal. I had a great experience. The sales girls was nice and the seamstress was great. It is not a 'pampering' experience like I assume Kleinfeld's is suppose to offer, but I didn't care about that aspect of gown shopping. I also thought RK had a great selection of dresses.

They take your cc number when you call for the appointment, if I remember correctly.

I bought my gown at Kleinfelds. Yes, they are expenseive, but that is because the gowns are high end. I got mine at the sample sale and paid 1/2 price. The sales woman was amazing. When I found my dress she hugged me and I thought she was going to cry.

I got my dress at the Bridal Suite in Manhattan. I had a great experience with them. It's a small shop, but they were great. Try them! I never went to Kleinfelds, so I can't compare it to them.

That is the most absurd thing I've ever heard. I'd never give anyone a credit card number for an appointment.

So far I had my first fitting and the service is great! My seamstress is awesome! I would recommend, they are a bit pricey though

yup - she asked me right off the bat if i was familiar with their 'Credit card policy' and she told me that i had to give the number, and if i didn't show up or if i canceled fewer than 48 hours in advance then the card would be charged 50 bucks.
