I went to the Bridal Garden to look for dresses and got really annoyed. I am a street size 8 and 90% of the store was dress sizes 10 and under. I think they had 2 dresses in the entire store that fit me! I know that they are a charity-based store and whatever they have they have but they should let people know beforehand that they dont have many other sizes above 10 before people drive all the way to Manhattan! Also- I vistied RK Bridal- they were really awesome:)

Sorry to hear about your experience! RK is def sooo great though... If they carried demetrios, i would have ordered my gown through them!

I actually made an appoitment to meet with them and the woman asked me my size. She told me that they mostly had size 10s...so I'm surprised they didn't do the same for you. Unless your visit made them rethink that they should tell brides about the sizes they have.

I told her my size when i called and she didnt say anything. I felt really uncomfortable going there and not being able to fit into anything- especially when i am only a size 8!

that stinks! you should try Helen's in Commack they are great and the samples are normal people sized so you can for the most part get a good idea of what the dress will really look like!!!

I went to the Bridal Garden-- and I walked right out of there! I thought the entire experience was horrible and I didnt think the dresses were nothing special!

I think it's crazy when alot of bridal stores carry dress sizes that normal people can't even fit into. I'm a size 6 and I feel sometimes they didn't fit me...i find that nuts!

It does stink that they didnt have anything to fit you but you have to remember there are sooo many different sizes out there and they can not accomodate every single size by having a sample of each dress in every size.
just as you are upset that they didnt have anythign that fit..........they didnt have any that fit me either~they were all too big on me~I didnt try on one sample that was smaller then an 8.
You can still put the dresses on regardless of if they fit and get an idea of the look. It does help to at least put them on and see. I had some dresses that before they were even clamped to fit me I knew I didnt like.

thankfully you have time but it stinks when you can't zip it and close clips don't cut it. when I bought my dress i was also a street size 8 and I was going to recommend RK Bridal. I almost bought my dress there but went to Pronovias on 52nd street. At RK Gilda is awesome. Old lady who really knows her stuff!

You also have to remember that this is a place where dresses are donated. If you go into a bridal salon most samples are a size 10. these are designer dresses for about 75% off. If you go to any sample sale you are going to run into the same problem. It's not the salon's fault, it's really a sample sale dress salon.

I understand that it is not tere fault. However i told her on the phone what size i am. I strongly feel that she should have told me that there were only 3 dresses in the store that would fit me. I just felt very uncomfortable. I also know that not every sample size is carried but if you are aware of what is in your store- which she is- you shouldnt waste peoples time and have them come in when there is nothing there that will fit them.

I was at the other end of the spectrum when I went to try on dresses yesterday. All the dresses i tried on were size 12 and up! the dress i really liked was a size 18!!!!! I tried on one just that fit me- size 6. the girl told me they do it that way on purpose so all the samples are big enough to fit most everyone. then they just clip up the back so you can see how it should look.
