Re: Kate- are you ready for low carb?
Michelle, many protein bars are very high in sugar. Look for 'low-carb' specific bars.
I like the Atkins bars because they are very filling and have 10+ grams of fiber, which is kind of hard to get on a low-carb diet....
Hope this helps! Marcia

I eat them too- it's because they have malitol in it (artificial sweetener- and sometimes people's body's have same blood sugar reaction to that like sugar so it causes a stall... but it doesn't have that affect on me.

Re: Kate- are you ready for low carb?
Yeah, it is expensive, but I think its worth it not to have to stress about what to eat, especially in the morning!!!
We bought... Morning Start breakfast bars (2 net carbs) Atkins Advantage Bars (2 or 3 net carbs) Tried these already and they are good!! Ready to Eat Muffins (2 net carbs) Flatbread crackers (4 net carbs per serving of 3) Tortilla wraps (3 carbs) and some sort of carb free mints for work
It came to over $100, but we got a free box of Advantage Bars (there are 15 in there) worth $27.99 for spending over $100.

Dinner was...
A cheddarwurst sausage, an entire acorn squash grilled in the BBQ w/olive oil and adobo, a green salad with balsamic viniagrette. Handful of peanuts while cooking. 1 Bass Ale
3-4 oreos.... no ladies that was not dessert. that was me blowing my whole day of being good!
Dessert: Sugar free, fat free Jello Vanilla pudding w/ cool whip. (so yummy, that I was not jealous of DH eating Moosetracks icecream)

Re: Kate- are you ready for low carb?
Hey ladies- here's a tip for those low carb toritillas.. cut them into nacho shape and fry them in olive oil until brown on each side- them drain on paper towel and salt.. then you can make taco salad with taco chopped meat, cheese, lettuce, etc... so good...
OK- so last night for dinner I had...
spinach salad (and i ate the 4 croutons.. the SHAME) mussels (which have a small amount of carbs but I love them) 2 pieces of bread a bottle of red wine.. yes, I'm not kidding- the bottle.. (so Kate, don't feel bad about that Bass Ale).
Holy Moly Ladies- this might be the answer to our prayers....

Re: Kate- are you ready for low carb?
Dinner: not the chicken I had planned. FH fried okra in an egg white batter-- very yummy. and we had steamed greens. Not much protein but yummy and with low carb veggies.
Breakfast: coffee black and I'm about to gram a 'Think Thin' low-carb smores bar.
Lost 1lb yesterday!!!!! I have become a scale junkie and have to peak every morning!!!

Re: Kate- are you ready for low carb?
Great news Marcia! I promised I wouldn't look until after a week, when I did I was only down 2 lbs, a little surprised it wasn't more....
Mid morning snack: EAS Advantage Bar - Chocolate Peanut Butter 4g carbs
Lunch: Cosi mixed green salad w/gorgonzola, roasted red pepper, grilled chicken and scallions w/sherry shallot vinegarette.
I can't believe it, but when asked if I wanted that delicious fresh baked bread... I said NO. I wanted it so bad I was shaking !!!!!!!

Well I fell off the wagon a little bit tonight- had a sushi roll (spicy tuna- my favorite- couldn't help it).. but I had tofu steak for a main course- not so bad.
I also had some of DHs ice cream.. (at least I didn't order my own).
